Marty was the first to welcome us to the neighborhood. Over the years he become more than a neighbor. We looked forward to his warm smile, an energetic wave of hand and frequent banter around the corner. His humanity, sense of humor and good nature showed in every interaction. He deeply cared for his neighborhood and people around him. May God give Barb and family the strength to bear the loss. He will be missed dearly.

I will always remember Marty's smile and kind spirit every time I saw him when I lived in his neighborhood. His gentle eyes told of his wonderful soul. May God wrap His loving arms around Barb and their entire family during this very difficult time and in all the days ahead. Be with everyone with Marty's home going.

I got to know Marty through Wellness House, our virtual sessions and our Prostate exercise group, Marty encouraged me to attend the the mass at St. Isaac's (for cancer patients) on Tuesday evenings, he came up to me and said he never realized what a handsome man I was, I told him that was only a reflection of you. To me, he was pleasant, delightful. courteous, and truly a respectable person, though he may not be with us physically his family and friends just got another angel; behold him frequently in spirit, for without being seen, he is present with you.

Also a volunteer at Loaves & Fishes, I didn't know Marty personally but have heard many of his friends speak so highly of him. I wish our paths had crossed. God bless Marty and his family.

I met Marty at CRHP Retreat and he showed me what a man of service is all about - he was a great role model and motivated me to get involved. I will miss seeing him at church, razzing him about something or another, but I will always think of Marty when asked to help out, feeling gentle nudge. Rest in Peace, you were a true servant of God and His people.

Barb and family,
My deepest condolences on the loss of a great man, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Though I hadn't known Marty very long, his volunteering spirit never wavered! I appreciate the time he was able to give at Edward Hospital, sharing the love and Presence of Christ! Marty will be awarded in Heaven.

I am so sad to read this .... Barb my heart and mind is with you during this difficult time. Marty will always be remembered as I think of the blood drive, tootsie roll drive, breakfast with Santa, greetings at St Raphael, chicago theatre, and how helpful he was during Jeffs´ illness. Marty was a true gem - always living his life for others. He will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear this. Barb - you are in my heart and mind as you go through this difficult time. Marty was always a joy to be around.... Tootsie roll drive, blood drive, fish fry, Santa breakfast, the best greeter St Raphael ever had.... So many memories.... Chicago theatre, black and white party (where marty wore one black sock and one white sock) and so much help and comfort during Jeffs´ sickness. I will NEVER forget him. All my best xoxo
