Marty was a fantastic musician and he will be missed. I got a chance to see him a few times and I would always wave at him and yell, "MARTY!". Earlier this year he pointed back at me and waved and smiled like he knew me forever. Rest in peace, Marty.

One of the nicest persons that I have ever met. My husband and I came to Chicago twice a year to Buddy Guy's Legends bar and he always remembered us and spoke to us...and told us where the after parties were. His presence will be greatly missed

We were very fortunate to see Marty perform at Maple Leaf Bar in New Orleans on October 13, 2022. We spoke before the performance. The joy on his face when he told us his daughter Katie was a Marine serving at the American Embassy in Ireland was undeniable. His buttons almost burst as he shared that she continues to play piano and has been invited for esteemed performances. His mood was high and when the room filled with his "entourage" from Chicago. The keys were on fire! Marty's musical talent was a gift to the world. His kindness, humor, wit, and that smile that would light up a ballroom will be with us all forever. The choir in heaven is surely rocking. Deepest sympathy to his family, friends, colleagues, and fans.

So sorry for his loss for his family ,saw Marty a few times at his shows what fun and joy he brought with his music and spirit. Im sure he's playing in the angels choir now and heaven is a little bit more lively. He will be missed.

Marty was such a talented musician and great neighbor. John and I loved hearing him play. We knew early on when he was in high school just how talented he was. We were lucky enough to have Marty play at my Grandmother´s surprise 80th Birthday party before he became famous. So John and I were honored to be able to say "we knew him when"! But his fame never changed him. He was still the kind, respectful neighbor we always knew!

Katie, your dad´s face just lit up when he spoke of you. You made him very proud.

Our deepest condolences to you and your family.

Marty grew up a few blocks away from me and we always called each other “neighbor.” As a fellow musician, Marty and I shared many a stage and I often found myself nearly forgetting lyrics as I was awestruck at his talent! I fondly recall a time at Chicago Blues Fest about 15 years ago when Rhe Marty Sammon Band was taking the stage as we was packing up from our set. He gave me a big hug and said “great show neighbor.” I’ll hold on to that forever.

Marty-your entire life was a great show, neighbor. Thanks for the beautiful music my friend. God bless you and may you Rest In Peace.

Although I never got to meet you on both my visits to Sheila I feel as if I knew you. Sheila adored you. Rest in peace dear Marty. I know wherever you are your music is still playing.

My daughter and son-in-law live across the street from Marty. In the summer, when the windows were open you could hear Marty playing the piano. One day I told him I loved his playing and I could listen to it all day. He said come on in and I will play for you. I was mesmerized at his talent and what a kind young man he was. I have never forgotten that day. I just celebrated my 85th birthday this week. Bless you, Marty.

Marty Sammon was my oldest friend, going all the way back to grade school. We were each the very first musician the other had ever played with; and I was always so proud of his achievements. He toured the world but was always great for a hang when coming through town. It was amazing to see him on 30-foot Jumbotron’s; and I always thought it was cool anytime I caught him on TV. This is a guy who did more in his short life than most will ever do. He was a child prodigy who grew up to be a tremendous musician; but he was my buddy first, and the nicest guy you’d ever wanna meet. RIP my friend; I will see you again ❤

Aside from being a world class musician, Marty was a wonderful neighbor and friend. He always made a point of stopping to talk with me when he saw me outside. I’ll never forget the time Marty and I were talking music and he had asked me if I was still playing the guitar. I told him that I was just about every day. He then proceeded to invite me down to his garage and jam with him. I was elated that someone of his musical talent would want to spend any time with an amateur like myself.but that was Marty!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marty and his family during this difficult time. God now has a great Blues Pianist at his side!

Please accept our deepest condolences. Marty was such a special person. We shared a love of music, vinyl records and the band Little Feat. It was such a pleasure when we got to introduce Marty to the members of Little Feat, when they opened for Buddy in Florida. "Put on Your Sailin' Shoes, Marty"
