I recently learned Marty had left this life. Mast was a lot of long hours, a lot of travel but a fabulous experience. Belatedly, my thoughts are with you.

Dena: Very sorry to read about Martys passing. Only by chance I happened to google his name and found the obituary. I remember the first time we met. We were both staying at the YMCA in Manchester NH and I wanted to meet the person who had the foresight to drive a Mercedes 190D in 1961. Im sorry that we lost touch when Linda (passed away April 2008) and I moved to Maine. I have since married again and retired to Naples, FL. I dont know if you will ever read this message but I am so sorry that we never followed up as I now read that Marty did some wonderful things with his very successful life.

I grew up on Legion street in Brooklyn, around the corner from Grafton street, where my cousins Marty and Carol lived with my favorite Aunt Rosie and uncle Max. Max, as did my father, drove a truck delivering baked goods to retail stores during early morning hours. I still remember Marty coming home, going to bed, after working with his dad one time. He made sure to tell me(we're close in age) to study hard in school, and do something else to "make a living" I went to medical school and retired after a wonderful career as a pediatrician. I,msorry I never knew Marty as an adult What a gem of a man. Max And Rosie are proud.

As a fellow alumnus of Cooper Union, I knew Marty
for decades. I have an indelible memory of him, at a retreat for Cooper trustees in September, 2005...sitting in the back of the room, listening carefully to the grandiose plans of the president
of Cooper Union for fulfilling the Master Plan...
Marty quietly raised his hand and asked:

"What's Plan B?"

At his most endearing moments Marty seemed like a Teddy Bear to me! I just wanted to hug him! We, at the New England Aquarium will be forever indebted to him and the Trust family for their support and contributions to the institution through the IMAX theater and the Trust Shark and Ray touch tank. Thousands of adults and children take joy and learning moments through these contributions-educating them about our precious and endangered oceans. We will miss him terribly and his lessons and dedication about hard work and education as trusted vehicles to success in our lives- whatever that may mean to us individually. May God bless him and the Trust family. Thank you. Fondly, Pamela

I came to know Marty and Deena through my Board work at the New England Aquarium which was the beneficiary of much time, talent and treasure from the Trusts. While I am very thankful for that, I am also thankful for the warmth, wisdom and humor that Marty brought to every conversation I had with him. What a guy!

Simple words on a page can not express the multitudes of lives around the world that Marty impacted. His vision, generosity of spirit and wisdom are unmatched. A true genius. I will be forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked for Mast for 20 years. May he Rest In Peace and may the family find solace in the memories he created.
