I concur with all of the posted comments that are written by former students! He was my trig teachr during the school year from 1975-1976. While I got off to a slow start, I eventually thrived in his class. He was a very good match for me. I went on to major in math in college, and to take masters and phd-level courses in statistics. He was certainly instrumental.

To the Valenti family, I am saddened to just find out about your loss. Please accept my belated condolences and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Mr. Valenti was the definition of a good and hard working person who was a loving husband and father.

With our sincere sympathy to Aunt Mare and all our cousins. We always enjoyed Bud's visits with the home-made sausage that he brought to our summer parties when we lived in Pittsburgh. We are very sorry for your loss. The Byrnes family... Rich, Barb (Young), Amanda and RJ

Mr. Valenti terrified me through a year of trig -- and boy did I learn it well... and I loved the subject. In addition, he team-taught a computer science course well ahead of its time ('71, '72, or maybe '73?) which might still be the best intro to computers that I ever had! Thank you, Mr. V.

I am saddened to hear of Mr. Valenti's passing. Mr. Valenti taught me algebra. He genuinely cared about his students. He used to keep a bag of Hall's mentho-lyptus cough drops in his desk, and if you coughed during class, he made you walk up and take one. He respected us and had a way of instilling self-confidence. I will always remember him as a great teacher.

To the entire family of Mr. Valenti. He was my algebra teacher at Allderdice in 1963. I feared not doing well in class. He taught me to love and understand math. Mr. V was a stern but fair man. Sorry to hear about this. Blessings and peace during this time of sorrow. Remember only the best of him. Joel Kalson class of 65, TAHS.

I'll always remember Mr. Valenti as one of the best and most dedicated teachers I ever had. He was my math teacher in, I think, 9th grade. I wouldn't have wished me on any math teacher, I didn't like the subject and not surprisingly, I wasn't very good at it. Mr. Valenti changed that, at least to a degree. He gave us individual attention, and it was obvious that he cared about us. He may have been a math teacher, but what he really taught was character. I'm not surprised to learn that he was also a Navy veteran of World War II. He served us then, he served us as a teacher, and we were so much the better for having been able to know him. My condolences to his family.

Dear Mrs. Valenti and family,
Mr. Valenti was my Algebra teacher when I transferred from Mt Mercy to Allderdice in 1963 because the Mount moved to Monroville. He taught more than math..critical thinking...and compassion as he had me tutor one of the football players. I was not great in math but the football player was worse! Mr valenti said I was the only one he could trust to help the boy without making fun of him, so of course I had to live up to that. He was one of my favorite teachers and I have spoken of him often over the years. Joan DiLeonardo Leotta

My sincerest condolences to the Valenti family. I had the pleasure of having him for 9th and 10th grade math. He was tough but fair. He taught me the Sorcratic Method. Thankfully I had the opportunity to tell him at our last two reunions that he was my all time favorite teacher and the only one to give me a grade I didn't deserve. He gave me an A when I earned a B. At the reunion he said he saw my potential.

I was a teacher at Allderdice Jr. High for only 8-9 years of the 38 Bud put in, but I remember his kindness in introducing me to the Parkway entrance off Vanadium when I was heading home to Penn Hills (at least I think I do!) And I remember his talking about threading the Liberty Tubes "needle" in his Greyhound bus. I sympathize with you in your loss. Elaine P. Welling

So sorry to learn of Mr.Valenti's passing. He was my trigonometry teacher at Allderdice in 1971. Clearly the most motivating teacher I had i high school and if you could handle his grilling, you emerged from that class with a level of confidence that would support you for the rest of your life. I am grateful for the privilege of having had him for a teacher at a truly formative time and credit him for creating a mindset that caused me to demand the most of myself throughout my professional life.

Without a doubt one of my favorite people that I had the pleasure teaching with at TAHS. He will be missed by his fellow colleagues and students. His story about his lunch and how Mary didn't pack it will always be told when he is mentioned by his friends. Mary I am so sorry for your loss and sorry that I can not be there. Denny
