Dear Aunt Karen & Family

I'm so sorry about your loss of Uncle Marty, I know you and the kids will miss him dearly. I wish i had a better chance of getting to know you both but you were moving around so much with Uncle Marty's job. I know we would've had lots of good laughs and been very close. I think of you & the family often even Joanne & Kevin. I can't believe it's a little over a year since Uncle Marty's passing, you and the kids will be in my thoughts. Love your Nephew Bill

Dear Karen & Family

Bill and I just learned of Marty's passing last week. I was very shocked and saddened to read this as Marty certainly was a "presence". I remember the first time I met you two in your apartment on Park Ave when Gerry was living with you. Karen, I can still see you bent over the kitchen sink in the process of changing your hair colour and quite pregnant for Jimmy. I cherish the great big hug Marty gave me at Mom Van Lierop's funeral. Marty was very much a protector of those he loved and I always enjoyed little chuckles with him. Even though I divorced Gerry, I do still miss the family.
Just think of all the fun Marty's having watching from on high. I do think of you often, Karen, so please get in touch--we were such good buddies before I flew the coop and I still miss that. Three years ago, Uncle Lorne Calhoun passed and last April my Mom passed -97 yrs old. I also nearly lost Bill last spring as he had a Kidney transplant and was clinically dead three times in 21 days due to heart problems. God bless you all, Karen-and I know the kids won't remember me but I still remember all of them. Please contact me. Your loving ex sister-out-law, Ruth-Anne searching on line fo

To Van Lierop Family, I just recently heard of Marty's passing and I am very saddened by the loss of a great guy. My memories of Marty go back to how he helped Diane Swiston and myself by making space available in the Calgary plant for us to pack Teddy Bears we were selling to raise money for cancer. He certainly helped make our contribution possible. I will be forever grateful.
My prayers are with you.

TO my western family; Sad to think, the the life of any family member comes to a time that we have to make more room in our hearts for understanding. We all come to a time, that a loved one directs the path we take, this is one taken from within, as a family we will follow with our hearts an yours. I am very saddened to hear about the loss of such a wonderful human being. The world was a much better place with Marty in it. Marty was my first manager at CPC. I respected him and admired his strenght and confidence. He was a real leader. He inspired and motivated people to meet their full potential. I will always remember and appreciate Marty for being an excellent manager and mentor.

Marty was a wonderful man, tough on the outside but warm, funny and kind on the inside once you got to know him. He had a very generous spirit and a good sense of humour. We will always remember the time he took us both out for lunch (for Secretary's Day) to Season's in the Park at Queen Elizabeth Park in Vancouver. We cherish that memory because you took the time out of your busy day to appreciate us in a special way. That was the best Secretary's Day we've ever experienced to-date. Plus you took Mohini out for lunch (to Monk McQueen's/Van.) when she going off work for a few years to raise her children and you took special pride in showing off your new Acura Legend at that time. You were such a Gentleman.

Karen and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. Marty was quite the man. When I first moved to Vancouver, I was told "If you want to know what goes on in Pacific region, get to know Marty". I did, and he was all I was told. Tough on the outside, but generous of spirit and totally approachable on the inside. I saw him as a mentor and learned much from him. Please know that he touched so many and had such a positive impact on those he met. A truly great man. He will be missed.

Dear Karen, John, Jim, Nicole and families -
We are both very shocked and saddened by the loss of Marty.
Our relationship goes back over 45 years and includes many memories from life on Devonshire Ave. in London. Karen, you, have always been more of a 'sister' than a cousin to us and much loved by all the Jaquith family and certainly by the Keaneys in Brampton.
Know that our children and their wives send their deepest sympathies and love to you as well.
They ask daily "How is Karen?"
Marty was so kind to Mary Jo and me when we visited last March.
It was great to share some laughs over old memories!
You are all in our prayers and hearts.
We will be there with you, in spirit, on Tuesday and will celebrate Marty's memory with the bottle of Shiraz that he sent home with me.
Love you, Jill

Dear Karen and family,
Like everyone else we were shocked and saddened to hear of your loss.
Marty was always the most enthusiastic of friends, a great host, and a man who lent his support to many without any hope of public recognition but just because he thought it was the right thing to do. If I could only remember one thing about Marty it would be the way he loved his wife and family. He will be missed by all, even Holly and Colonel Klink!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in your time of sadness.
