So very sad that I just learned Martin had passed in Feb. The last time we were together was a wonderful trip to Martinque Beach where I hadn't been since I was 16 yrs. old. He never got out of the backseat of the car but Michal and I ensured he had a good view of the water from where he was sitting. We enjoyed a picnic meal together and Michal and I had a short walk on the beach.

He was the best boss I ever had to pleasure of working for and will miss him dearly. A true gentleman and so very smart..so grateful for the opportunity to remain friends with he and Michal through the years.

My sincere condolences to Michal and her extended family and Martin's and his brother in the UK and all his children and extended family.

Remember Lada sitting on my feet while working when they were visiting in town and she has also passed over the rainbow bridge.

Remember his 80th birthday celebration as well and thankful he had a long and mostly healthy life with many special trips with Michal visiting both their families.

He has set the bar high for sure..will miss him very much and grateful he was an important part of my life's journey,

Sincerely,
Diane Comeau

I first met Martin in the early 1970's, when I was still a student or just recently graduated.
Over the years, Martin has helped me several times, and offered me some employment and advice when I needed it. He was a great contributor the the maritime industry in Atlantic Canada.
I will always remember him for his professionalism and kindness.

As a Life Member of S.N.A.M.E. I was always pleased and entertained by Martin's presence. He was an enormously talented Naval Architect and was well known for his knowledge and history of the discipline. Condolences to his family.

My thoughts are very much with Martin's family.

I first met Martin in the early 1990s when I became active with the
Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers. Martin was a founding member
and Chair of the Canadian Atlantic Section. Our Section used to gather regularly
at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax, with meetings consisting
of a dinner catered by Scanway, a technical presentation, and lively discussion
afterward. Martin gave a very memorable presentation on his key role with the
Abegweit ferry, which travels between Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia.

Our organization had several annual February dinners featuring speakers
of broader interest, with members being encouraged to bring spouses
and other guests. Linda and I very much enjoyed the company of Martin and Michal
during one of the dinners held at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron.

I'm always particularly appreciative of those who were supportive to me during the early
part of my career. Martin was kind and a great source of wisdom. I feel most fortunate
to have known him for the past 3 decades. He'll be greatly missed by many.

My memories of Martin were of a man who loved life. I can remember once we were boating in Halifax harbor and the Bluenose was out sailing....with the Canadian flag flying upside down from the mainmast (Foremast?) Well Martin was incensed!! He took the helm and pulled up alongside the Bluenose to vent his frustration at the skipper!! I also remember many great times at a local Jazz restaurant in Halifax where we saw Peter Appleyard and other jazz greats.
The Scandinavian parties at the Yeatman household were the stuff of legends!
I am grateful to have known Martin and the Yeatman family. Michal, Paul, Eric and Kristin...my sincere condolences.

My sincere condolences to Michal and all of Martins' family for the loss of a wonderful man.

I first met Martin in 1993, when I moved from Toronto to Dartmouth. Despite being 27 years my senior, we became good friends and enjoyed many lively, and for me, very informative discussions. I learned many things from my good friend, most important of all was the value of friendship, as we age. In his last few years, he joined our Thursday night social group for a pint and some lively banter. He often became the center of the gathering with his many fascinating stories. We were very blessed to have had him with us for as long as we did.
