In memory of
Mary Devers
February 7, 2011
To all of our beloved Benoits,
We all loved Marty so much. She was a wonderful aunt, mother, wife, sister, grandmother and friend. When I was a little girl I wanted to grow up and be just like her. She was so funny, kind, loving. All of her family helped create the inspirational woman that she was. She will always hold a special place in my heart. She always made me feel loved.

I first met the Benoit family through the many pictures and stories shared by Cheryl when I first met her in 1967 at Marymount University. We immediately became friends and shared her family while we were at school for the next two years. Since then, I have met and visited with her beloved Mother and Father many times as well as all her brothers and sisters. My memories are full and continue to this day. I am also happy that my husband, Jim, was able to meet Mrs. Benoit (I will never be able to call her Martina) and the family. We both continue to be dear friends to Cheryl and Dick and are fortunate to continue to keep in touch with the Benoit family. Mrs. Benoit always asked of me through Cheryl and had a secret name for me because of my past job.It made me smile every time. I know what the loss of a Mother is and the hole it leaves in your heart, but great memories and love get you through it. Our deepest sympathy to Dr. Benoit, our dear Cheryl and all the Benoit family.

I have been spending my summers in Rockport since I was born. My parents, Dr. Tom O'Leary and Dr. Helen O'Leary were friends of Marty and George so I grew up spending my summers with the whole family. Even though we have all gone our separate ways since, I continued to see Marty because every summer when she would come back to Rockport, on her walks she would stop by my house to say hi and catch up. I will truly miss her annual visits but my memories of her and her family will always remain in my heart.

We are so sorry to hear of your mom's passing.
I am a college friend of Chery's.Because
of our 30+ year friendship I have spent time with your mom and dad. We had great times in Rockport and so enjoyed your moms humor and hospitality. Your mom really enjoyed people, her family and had a great zest for life. You all will have great memories. Larry and I so happy we had time to know your mom.

Aunt Marty was a comfort and support to her California nieces and their families. She offered a willing ear and a warm smile, a shoulder to cry on, a sly grin and hearty laugh when needed. Her sense of family was an inspiration and her stories of her Boston childhood were often funny, sometimes sad, and always enlightening. Whether sitting together or at opposite ends of a cross-country phone line, I could count on Aunt Marty to brighten my day with a bit of her kindness. Thank you Benoits for sharing Martina. With much love, Fran

Happy Birthday Momma! You were a gift to this world... and I will miss you always. I thank the Lord that I was home to see you over the holidays, it was bittersweet as we laughed and cried... I love you my sweet mother. What a wonderful example of human kindness you were, I've been so blessed to be your daughter. I'm thankful to have had you all these years.

Dear George and Family,
With sadness I send condolence and prayers to each one of you in the loss of your beautiful Martina. She was one of the kindest, most caring people I have been blessed to have known during the seven years working in the Dedham office. Her warm-heart, happiness and humor radiated to those around her. A wonderful role model for me, admiring her as a mother, wife and friend. She cherished all.
At this sad time, I keep you in my thoughts and prayers. May treasured memories help bring comfort and peace through the days to come.
With Sympathy & Blessings,
Patti

To all the Benoits,
I have fond and vivid memories of "Mrs. Benoit" as a young, pretty, red-headed mother of eight children. I lived across the street from all of you in Norwood and I spent countless hours playing in that beautiful and happy home with Sheila, Cheryl and Martina. Be it Norwood or Rockport, I was always made to feel welcome. Mrs. Benoit's kindness to me as a child has never been forgotten, and for that I carry a little piece of her in my heart always.
My love to all the Benoits!

Dr Benoit and Kids
So sorry to here of Mrs Benoits passing, she was a hot ticket. I spent the summer of 1970 in Rockport with Marty and her family, I have so many wonderful memories. Mrs Benoit was my Mom that summer and did a fine job if I do say so myself. She was a great Mom and friend to me. You kids are lucky to have had such a wonderful Mom.

Dear Marty, Tom and I read with sorrow of your passing. You and I have not seen each other for quite a few years but I have thought of you often, my memory takes me back to our beloved Rockport to great summer days of fun, boating with Paul and Eleanor with lots of laughs, a great friendship and the friendship of our children. You and I had wonderful talks confinding to each other I felt I could open up my heart to you, you were a good listener you had an open mind and I respected your generosity of spirit.
Rest in peace dear Marty. Tom and I wish comfort to your grieving family George your children and grand children.
Helen and Tom O'Leary.

My dear Mother, I love you so much and I am only comforted to know that you are in a better place and in Peace. You have been a great example of what being a human being is all about. Your ability to reach out to all who you encounter is the gift you had and I often marveled at it. Mom you taught us kindness, compassion and the simplicity of being a great listener. I am so fortunate that i was given to you. The richness of your Irish heritage which you shared with so many added a special element to growing up. I used to love it when you spoke with the Irish brogue and you delighted Hannah when you would call on St. Patrick's day and pretend you were the leprechaun, her giggles were priceless. I like to think you gave me a little of that brogue. Mom I could write a book, but perhaps I will end here and just tell you how much I love you and will miss you. You are a very special woman and you taught so many of us so much about life. I will be talking with you a great deal Mom and I will see you in the flowers, hear you from the birds songs and feel you in the wind.
Love
Martina
