Marvel R Sparks

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Marvel Sparks, who passed away peacefully at The Academy of Aging at the age of 84. She is predeceased by her husband, Derek Sparks, who passed away in 2009. Marvel is survived by her three children Norman, Kimberly, and Michele (Mark LaDuke) as well as her 5 grandchildren Baaron, Trevor, Ariel, Sarah, and Stephen.

Marvel was born in 1940 in Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. She endured many challenges in her young life. However she proved to be resilient and blessedly life changed for the better when Marvel met Derek (Rick) at the Hudson Bay Company in Calgary where they both worked They became instant soulmates and were married in 1957. They remained committed spouses until the passing of her husband. Marvel never fully recovered from that heartbreaking loss and talked continually about Rick up until her passing. All of her immediate and extended family still comment on how much they loved each other. Both Marvel and Rick also made a point of saying "I love you" continuously to their children and grandchildren.

Marvel enjoyed her flower gardens, going for family Sunday drives, family trips to the mall on Saturdays, and sitting in her backyard with Rick, their children, and her grandkids. She adored her grandchildren and most of Rick and Marvel's time was spent attending the grandchildren's various activities and special events. They were both also active volunteers with their Catholic church.

Mom (Nanny) will be forever loved and our happy memories will live on in our hearts.

A dedication Memorial stone will be placed in The Faith Garden at Eden Brook Cemetery honouring both Marvel and Derek. At this time Marvel's immediate family will be having a small intimate gathering.
