MARVIN "JAKE" JACOBS Marvin "Jake" Jacobs 85 of Pasco WA passed away quietly on 11/29/2015 after a long battle with Alzheimers at his home with his family at his side. Jake was born on January 9th, 1930 in Cullman AL to Thomas and Allie Jacobs. Jake left the farm in Alabama at the age of 20 and joined the US Navy. Jake served his country for almost four years during the Korean War. In 1953 he was honorably discharged and moved to Port Townsend WA where his brother lived. In 1958 Jake moved to Pasco WA and started work as an operator at the new Boise Cascade Paper Mill where he retired in 1997 after 39 years at the mill. Jake was also a Sheriff Reserve for several years, he volunteered countless hours to protect and serve the residents of Franklin County. Jake is survived by his wife Juanita Jacobs (married 54 years) and his 5 children: Scott Kenyon and Laurie Atkisson both of Port Angeles WA. Marvin Jacobs Jr of Saratoga Springs UT, Mike Jacobs and Mark Jacobs both of Richland WA. Jake was also was a loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings: Brother George Jacobs of Logan AL and Larell Powell of Cullman AL. Jake is preceded in death by his parents and 10 siblings. Jake enjoyed traveling to Norway to visit family, fishing, staying fit and family BBQs. He was best described as a kind and considerate man to everyone he came in contact with. That great smile and witty personality will be sorely missed. One of his favorite sayings was when you would ask him a question he would reply: "Might as well, I can't dance." and it was always said with that great smile to follow. Memorial services for family and friends will be held on December 7th, 2015 11:00AM at Columbia Memorial Chapel and Gardens, 224 South 24th Avenue in Pasco WA. Graveside service immediately to follow. The reception will be held at 1:00PM at Riverview United Methodist Church, 4012 West Court Street, Pasco WA.
