Marvin McQuitty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 14, 2012.
Marvin Navarro McQuitty Jr, the world-renowned, quintessential drummer, departed this life on September 11, 2012 in Houston, Texas at the age of forty-six after a lengthy battle with illness. Marvin made his mark in the music industry as a trend setting drummer who over the course of his career accompanied virtually every major artist in contemporary gospel and many mainstream artists as well. He leaves to mourn his loss his devoted wife, Kimberly, two loving daughters, Marielle and Simone, parents, Grace McQuitty of Michigan and Marvin (Cora) McQuitty, Sr. of Alabama, five sisters: Aprill (Kenneth) Brown of Michigan, Inger McQuitty Bouldes of Indiana, Desiree (Christopher) Bouldes of Michigan, Joyeaux (Bradley) Pittman of Texas, and Sabrina McQuitty of Panama, two brothers: Sean McQuitty of Michigan and Michael McQuitty of Panama, parents-in-law, Filmore and Beverly Bouldes of Michigan, sister-in-law, Wanda (Marvin) Wilson of Michigan, two brothers-in-law, Filmore (Joyua) Bouldes, Jr. of Michigan and Mark Bouldes of Indiana, loving godparents, Jacob and Albie Bird of Michigan, several nieces and nephews, and a host of family and friends too numerous to count. Services will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 11 am at his home church, Grace Church of Humble, in Humble, Texas.

A celebration of Marvin's life will be held in Detroit at Straight Gate International Church on Wednesday, September 19th, at 11 am.

To the family of Mr. Marvin Mcquitty, I pray that God continues to comfort you in this difficult time. I've been a drummer since I was 11 and I'm so grateful and thankful to my Heavenly Father that He entrusted me with this gift to be a blessing to others. Mr. Marvin was and will always be a inspiration in my heart forever. I love you and may God continue to keep and bless you!

I know that this is abit late and I do not wish to upset the family, however I would like to express my condolences and deepest sympathy to the Mcquitty Family at large.
I have never had the privilege to meet The Great Marvin Mcquitty Jr in the flesh, however he has always been a great inspiration to me an many others. His humility and kind hearted nature was heard in his music. Even though I have never met him, he expressed himself in his music and still today when I listen to him play, I feel that connection, that sense of love, fun and family...
He will always live on through his music.
He is now playing with the choir of angels in eternity and some day we all will see God together and have fellowship with Him...
Be blessed family and know that you are always in my prayers...

On behalf of the Milton Family (Helen, Pat, Joyce, Faye and Junne and our families) we are praying for the entire McQuitty/Bouldes family and know that your strength is made perfect in weakness. We love you, and Marvin was a great asset, great minister of music and great friend to so many and his drumming legacy will be mimic by so many! I had the great honor of mentoring him as one of my "fellows" at The International Gospel Center church - and he loved the Lord and encouraged others to do the same. Grace, job well done! God Bless.
