Dear Brother Amir,
I mourn you in the name which you first greeted me at Howard University during the Fall of `79.
My deepest condolences to all those you loved.
For most of us in the Howard U family, the words spoken and written in the immediate grief of our passing will be the last.
Given all that you contributed and accomplished, I believe your life story places you in a distinct and distinguished class.
Thank you for your support and strength in "Standing Against the Crowd" and "Insuring Our Way."
Amen.

Mr. Turner was so kind, he did everything to get housing for me and my husband. We had a HUD Section 8 Voucher and he was advocating for us to move over and over in PG County Maryland. I will always love you Mr. Turner

My deepest condolences to the Turner family. I’m just finding out about his death. Marvin and I were close friends during our years at Howard. He was a fellow Philadelphian and he introduced me to Club Philly. He was responsible for directing me to the School of Business and I owe him and School of Business a debt of gratitude. God bless his legacy.

I was very saddened to hear of Marvin's passing. I met Marvin around 25 years ago when we were both working at Bell Atlantic. We became friends after we learned how much we had in common: being from Philly, and attending both Howard and GW among other things. When I last saw him at homecoming a few years ago, it was a wonderful reunion. He was an inspirational brother who will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I was shocked and dismayed when I heard that Marvin was gone. God must´ve gotten tired of waiting for his kind, gentle and thoughtful spirit. Heaven is better better off for his transition while we´re very sad here on earth. I knew Marvin from the NBMBAA in DC. My sympathies to his family, colleagues and like-minded friends.

Marvin was a good man. Every time I saw Marvin at an event he would go out of his way and ask, "How's things going in Fairfax County?" Or "How come you didn't attend the ribbon cutting event in Fairfax County." Marvin would also talk about Detroit, which is the area where I grew up. I would often to say to myself that this man remembers everything, lol. Marvin also gave me a lot of career advice that I will never forget.
I'm going to miss seeing Marvin around, and I am thankful to have known him. GOD Bless

I don't have one particular memory of Marvin to point to, just many encounters. Marvin was always such a kind, caring, helpful, person who would do whatever one needed for the cause. He cared so much about people and achieving the actual mission of getting them housed. Always friendly; always smiling. I'm so sad he's no longer with us. He will be missed. Much love Marvin. RIP.

What a great guy! I served with him on the Board of the Community of Hope in DC, and he was both very informative and added to the discussions, ideas and commitments towards the overall mission in order to create and support this great organization. That charity was and is committed to homeless housing, as well as affordable healthcare. Because of his vision and support, and that of others, that organization has grown to assist over 1500 homeless families a year, and last year provided some 60,000 affordable health care visits, all in the district of Columbia. At the time, he lived at a rather distant place in Upper Marboro Maryland, which required him to take public transportation at times, often at night. Consequently, he demonstrated that he was extremely dedicated to the mission. There were a couple of times I had the opportunity to drive him home, and consequently we had great personal and professional discussions that lead to new understandings and improved policies and procedures that still underlie this organization. Unfortunately, I have not seen him in a couple of years, but I and a host of others will miss him. Please give my condolences to all of his family and friends. – Chris Kerns

I am so glad that I got to know him in our early days at Howard and then through our associations in the School of Business at HU and then into the Iota Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity where he and I were charter members for that chapter. Down through the years he continue to assist the chapter and show up from time to time as an encouragement to those to keep things alive.
