Mary E. Ammons

Mary E. Ammons, 91, of Hampton Township, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, in Country Meadows, Bridgeville. She was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Rockford, Ill., a daughter of the late John and Laura Gillespie Gormley. She was a registered nurse for UPMC Magee-Womens hospital for 15 years. She was a member of North Hills Christian Church, Ross Township. She is survived by a son, Thomas V. (Janet) Ammons, of Hampton Township; two daughters, Ann E. (Jerry) Loud, of Coraopolis, and Doris M. (Ed) Hardesty, of Ohio Township; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Patty Brink, of Provo, Utah; and three brothers, Jack Gormley, Thomas Gormley, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Edward Sebree, of San Francisco, Calif. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, DeVernon G. Ammons Ph.D., on Oct. 14, 2006; a brother, Clarence Gormley; and a sister, Laura Brink. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd. at Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler Township, where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Dan Knox, pastor of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Royal Cemetery, Shaler Township.
