Ms. Mary Ann Balfour

Ms. Mary Ann (Jelinek) Balfour, born on April 8, 1936 in La Sueur, Minnesota, to the late Lanora Mary Jelinek-Deems and the late Richard E Richter, departed this world at the age of 82 on August 11, 2018 in Richmond, Texas to be reunited with her parents and other loved ones who passed before her including her grandparents Nora Jelinek and Frank Jelinek who helped raise her in La Sueur, Minnesota, her best-friend and sister LaVose Priddy (Richter), bother Russell Richter, her late husbands Alexander B ( A.B ) Balfour and Glen J Harden, and her beloved grand-daughter Khristy Ann Balfour, and her fur baby Puppy .

Mary Ann was a long time Dental Assistant having worked most recently in Texas City and then in Houston before retiring in the late 1990s. Mary Ann is survived by her daughters, Gayla Ann Slater (Harden) and Georgia Ann Hamblin (Harden), both of whom she loved so very much; her brother, Ivan Richter and sister, Nancy Kelm (Richter); grandchildren, Cyndie Flanagan (Balfour), Jason Wingo, Glen Gayden, and Bryan Clark; and her great-grandchildren, Kesley Flanagan, Kyndall Flanagan, Khristy Gayden, Kaylin Clark, and Charles Gayden. She also leaves behind her loved dog, Cooper.

Mary Ann was always one to cook up an adventure, ready to put up a fight if someone needed to be stood up for, quick to crack a joke if you needed a smile, and even faster to come to your rescue in so many other ways. She loved bargain hunting at garage sales, crafts, cooking, and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was laid to rest in a small private family service.
