AtchleyFeb. 11, 1923 - Oct. 13, 2016 OKLAHOMA CITY Mary Vida (Easter) Atchley, 93, passed away Oct. 13, 2016, in Midwest City, OK. She was born Feb. 11, 1923. Mary was deeply loved by her family and her husband of 72 years, who preceded her in death a mere four days before her passing. She married Warren Atchley Nov. 24, 1945, at the age of 21. Mary would spend her first year of marriage following him up and down the East Coast while he served in the Navy. They spent six months in Key west, FL before he would retire from the Navy and move back to Oklahoma City in 1946, where they would spend the rest of their lives. Mary spent nine years as the secretary to the pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, and then became a housewife to raise her two children. When her daughter was 14, she went to work for JC Penney in the gift wrapping department, then became the secretary at Mid Con Life Insurance, where she would retire at the age of 58. Mary loved spending time with her family and helping at the church with funeral dinners. She had many friends from all backgrounds of life. When she would ride the city bus, she would sit with her friends with different backgrounds and race and would always get asked to move to the front of the bus, but she would not move. She loved everyone and was a very special lady to her family and anyone she would meet. Her great-grandmother, Arah Belle Henderson, was full-blooded Choctaw and died at the age of 97. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Easter Sr. and Edna (Stem) Easter; sister, Jennie Frances Easter; and brother, Roy Easter Jr. She is survived by son, Paul W (Sherry) Atchley; daughter, Peggy E. (Paul) Kruse; grandchildren, Danny (Gin) Carver; Deborah, Brian (Jackie) Carver; Christina (William) Milligan; Brandon (Krishanda) Mayes; Michelle Callahan; Cameron (Sarah) Cumming; and Clinton (Jena) Cumming; great-grandchildren, Amie (Erik); Brooke (Les), Josh, Jerika, Jacob, Lucinda, Nathan, Dalton, Haley, Dillion, Gage, and Caleb; great-great- grandchildren, Tyler, Kilee, Davin, Tobias, Eva, Raylee, and Kambrie; nephews, Larry (Darla) Atchley and Mark (Lisa) Atchley; and numerous other family relatives. May she rest in peace!!! Funeral Services will be held Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at First Church of the Nazarene Bethany at 2 p.m.
