Mary B. Roberts

Funeral service for Mary Butler Roberts, 77, of Shawnee, will be 10 am Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kris Steele, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Mrs. Roberts passed away on December 1, 2013, after a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis and heart disease.

Mary was the sixth of nine children, born in Heth, Arkansas on August 9, 1936, to Lewis and Beatrice (Slaughter) Butler. She married Floyd "Boots" Dodson Roberts on December 22, 1956, in Santa Rosa, New Mexico and worked as a cook in the hospitals in Santa Rose and Las Vegas, New Mexico, as well as for the Head Start Program in Las Vegas. She was a great cook and homemaker. At the time of her diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 1964, she was attending Highlands University in Las Vegas to become a Home Economics teacher. Due to her illness, she was unable to finish her studies. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and sister and we will miss her all the rest of our days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd in 1985; two brothers: Sylvester Butlter and Lewis Butler; four sisters: Lucille Warren, Louise Butler, Lillie Carter and Hester Stovall.

She is survived by twin children: Frank Roberts, DVM, of Oklahoma City and Frances Roberts, RN, DVM, of the home; two grandchildren: Karri Allen, Norman, OK and Clinton Roberts, Camp Pendleton, CA; one great grandchild: Trinity Allen, Norman, OK; and two sisters: Beatrice Marion, Memphis, TN and Sarah Overton, Forrest City, AR.
