Mary Anne Bragg

June 23, 1938 to January 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Anne Bragg, a remarkable woman, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mary Anne passed away peacefully on January 14, 2024. She was reunited in heaven with her loving husband, Russell and her beloved sister Judy Brennan.

On June 23, 1938, Edward and Genevieve (Salmon) Raley welcomed their first daughter Mary Anne into the world. Two years later, her beloved sister Judy was born. Mary Anne attended the School of the Holy Child Jesus in Sharon Hill, PA where she was the May Queen. At the age of 17, she met the love of her life, Russell Bragg, a cadet at Pennsylvania Military College. Russell, aka Itchy, swept her off her feet, taking her to military balls and visits to Cape May, New Jersey. They were married May 24, 1957. Russ and Mary Anne moved all over the country during Russ' military service and settled for a time in Upper Sandusky, Ohio and Milan, Ohio when Russ started his career with Pillsbury. There were several moves after that and Mary Anne made each new house a home for her family, filling it with beauty and delicious food. Eventually, they settled in Georgia, where they enjoyed their time living on the golf course and Mary Anne worked in her art studio creating dolls and works of art. They loved traveling to Marco Island to seek out perfect shells and sand dollars on early morning beach walks.

Mary Anne's nurturing spirit, unwavering support and boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her children and their spouses, Russell E. Bragg, Deborah and Buck Andrews, David and Julie Bragg, Suzanne and Eric Bielawski, Michael and Katy Bragg and Chris Bragg.

Mary Anne left an amazing legacy to her grandchildren Will, Anna (Russ), Buck, Genevieve, Lucy, Douglas (Deborah), Devin, Quinn, Erin, Lauren, Jordan (David), Trevor, Bryan, Emily, Morgan (Suzanne), Mekeon, Raley, Delaney (Michael), Evie, Mady, Sarah and Grace (Chris) and her great grandchildren, Cameron, Blake, Ryan, Harper (David/Devin) and Archer (Chris/Evie).

If you can keep count, that is 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who will always know her as "Nummy," the wonderful person who nurtured their talents, loved them unconditionally, taught them to paint, make chicken pot pies, search out perfect sand dollars, explore beaches and most importantly to eat dessert first, because we all know that is the best part of the meal.

Mary Anne loved sharing her creative spirit with people. If you were lucky enough to receive a handmade Santa Claus or Stormy Weather, you were embraced by her creative spirit. She was a talented artist, no matter the medium, sewing kimonos, sculpting, and painting porcelain dolls, needlepointing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidering baby blankets for all those grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was amazingly proud of her hard earned medallions for forty years of sobriety and the people she comforted through her writings and the support program she helped to established at Pax Christi in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. She also served as a Eucharistic Minister for the parish, visiting nursing homes and treatment centers to share the gift of communion.

Mary Anne's spirit will continue to inspire us all. We will miss her love, laughter, endless patience, and quick sense of humor.

A memorial service will be held on June 14th, 2024 at 10 am at St. Patrick's Church, 13591 Prosperity Farms Road, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1999, Memphis, TN 38101.

I remember the day Russ called me and asked me to come by the house and talk to Mary Ann.....we sat in the Kitchen alone and I told her my story in Recovery and she had many questions...I was so proud of her and the choices she made from that day forward.
Rest in Peace and Serenity Mary.
Your Friend,
Red G

To the family of Mary Anne: On behalf of my classmates at Holy Child Academy, class of 1956, we extend our sympathy for the death of our friend, Mary Anne. Personally she and I have been classmates since 1st grade. She was always a kind and gentle person. One of my fondest memories were days after school playing at her English cottage house with the wildflowers in the front yard. A memory that does not fade. She may be gone but she leaves a big legacy in the wonderful family she and Russ made.
