Dear Marty and boys,
I was devastated today to hear of Mary's death. Chandler and Conrad are as well. I have so many happy memories being friends with Mary We worked together as Chairs of Douglas' and Daniels' 4th grade plays. I accompanied Mary to one of her routine scans and she accompanied me to an appointment. I fondly remember washing and drying her hair when she got her sleeve. My daughter Grace Caroline and I ran into Mary at TJ Max in August or September. She told me she was getting fitted for a wig the next day. She told me that the cancer had spread but I knew her great faith and all the prayers would bring her through. I have prayed so much for her. Unfortunately I kept saying "I need to call Mary to have lunch or coffee" but work kept getting in the way. I prayed to God today that he tells Mary that I'm so sorry that we didn't get that lunch or coffee. Life is not the same without Mary.

Marty,
Mary was so special. She was such a good kid growing up in the Copeland family here in California and elsewhere. We all will miss her. We continue praying for you and your family.

Please know that my prayers are with you.

I know the feeling of early loss. It hurts so bad. Mary's departure to be with The Lord is comforting, but she will be missed...oh will she be missed. May the God of tender mercies be near you in your days of great sorrow. This I will pray.

I will never forget being welcomed into your home when Edwin was preaching a gospel meeting there a few years ago. Of course, I was touched by your hospitality, but more so the talks we shared and the spiritual encouragement I received from Mary. She left a deep impression on me and I am sad that I will not see her smiling face again at lectures or share another heartfelt talk. She was very special and I will miss her. Edwin and I send our love to her family.

Mary touched the lives of so many. She embodied Galatians 2:20, I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me…" While her loss is so very painful, we know that she is at rest and we will meet again. May God comfort and bless the Broadwell, Copeland, and Embry Hills family of Christians.

Marty, Neva and Wilson, I know what a difficult time this is for all of you, Marty you have lost a loving wife, your boys and loving mother and Neva and Wilson a devoted sister. Our first meeting was when your father was at Tenth and Termino and then later at Studebaker Road. The friends of youth always seem to mean so much more, but couple that with the knowledge that you are all Christians makes this an even more difficult time. There is nothing I can say that you do not already know, but know this, since the very moment I heard of Mary's illness and then her passing you have been and will continue to be in my prayers. I love you all and pray God's grace and peace to rest with you during the difficult days ahead. God bless.

I don't know how to sum up Mary Broadwell.... we were friends so long ago. I never even met 3 of her beloved sons, and Mason was a little baby the only time I saw him. God had different paths for our lives, but she will never leave my heart. Mary had more friends than anyone I ever knew - and rightly so, since she was a ray of sunshine wherever she went. She and I always laughed so much together, and she was such a tremendous example to me in her walk with the Lord – the epitome of Proverbs 31. Although Marty was never a mushy-gushy kind of guy, it was obvious that he adored her. It's difficult to imagine this world without her, but our loss is heaven's gain. I'm glad for her that she's “graduated” and out of pain. Please know that an old friend is loving and missing Mary, and praying for all of you.
