Mary Bump Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 20, 2012.
Mary Curutchet Bump was born January 17, 1925 to Bernard and Grace Curutchet and entered into peace June 20, 2012 in Chowchilla, CA. Growing up in the Dairyland area, she attended the local elementary school and Chowchilla High School. During her school years, Mary was active in various school sports including girls' softball which she enjoyed very much and spoke of often. It was while attending high school Mary met Dalton Bump. They married and spent the next 60 years together. Their lives were filled with raising children and being active in the community. During their later years both were retired and enjoyed keeping up with the grand-children. Before retiring Mary was a bus driver for both the elementary and high schools. Her career lasted 40+ years allowing her to carry two generations of a family on her bus. She enjoyed getting to know her students and many kept in touch throughout the years after her retirement. Being a lifetime member of the community, Mary was involved in many local groups including the Historical Society, Alter Society, American Legion Auxiliary and Basque Clubs to name a few. These kept her busy and she enjoyed seeing her many friends when participating in the activities. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Dalton, parents Bernard and Grace, brothers Pete, Frank, John and Jim, and daughter-in-law Judi Bump. She is survived by her children Ray (Sharon), Gary, Janie Estep, Kathy (Jerry) Scott, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Pepe. With her caring spirited approach to life, Mary was known by many throughout the community and loved by all. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
