CALDWELL, Mary E., "Libby" Died on August 7, 2016. She was born in Cincinnati, and following the untimely death of her parents, came to live with relatives in Dayton, where she graduated from Stivers High School. She learned secretarial skills which she put to use for many years maintaining financial records for and as secretary to such varied businesses as asphalt production and paving, finance, real estate and as an exceptional paralegal. (all simultaneously.) Her volunteer activities included The Nature Conservancy and the Dayton Museum of Natural History (now the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery). The Museum recognized her many contributions by establishing the Mary E. Caldwell award, given occasionally to a volunteer who has performed exceptional meritorious service to the Museum; Libby was its first recipient Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Saturday. October 22nd. Those wishing to attend are requested to assemble at the main gate by 1:45 to be escorted to the grave site. Arrangements entrusted to Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home.

Libby was a good friend and a good listener. Because of her failing eyesight, she would read books on tape. She spent many hours reading books on tape and sometimes had very funny stories to tell about them. And she could be very witty. She was two months short of being one hundred and two years old.
She will be missed.
