CHAMP, Mary Helen
(nee Duralia)
Peacefully on March 17, 2015 at the age of 79 surrounded by family. Beloved wife of Gary Lee Champ for 58 years. Loving mother of Catherine Wilbur (David), Stephanie Champ, Larry Champ (Mary), Melanie Walker and Carol Shanks. She had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren Christopher, Rose, Matthew, Michael, Lia, Colleen, Mackenzie and Hunter. With her great- grandchildren Ilija, Aleksandar and Andrija mother learned to appreciate the benefits of Skype so she could see the boys half a world away in Montenegro. Daughter of the late Frank and Kathleen Duralia (nee Bradica). Younger sister to Evelyn Slobasky (Harry- deceased), Annie Horvat (John-deceased), Kathleen Coulson (Robert-deceased), Joseph Duralia (Carol), Nellie Siddall (Robert-deceased) and John Duralia (Patricia). Well loved by all her in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Employed at Sears Canada for 30 plus years as a sales clerk where she received many awards for customer service. Her commitment to the community was felt by all as she helped organize the South Windsor Fastball league, worked as a volunteer for the Kidney Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society. The United Way awarded our Mom & Dad "The Hearts that Light the Way" award for their extensive volunteer endeavours. For many years she was the secretary for the Saturday Night Mixed bowling league at Crescent Lanes. Our mother's love of sports taught us fair play, humbleness and the value of friendships that remain with us today. She was an inspiration to all of us; especially recognizing her internal strength to fight back her cancer with dignity to the very end. We would like to give thanks to the 2 north nursing team and the front line nursing staff on the palliative care nursing unit at Hotel- Dieu Grace Healthcare as well as the compassionate and concerted efforts of Shauna Carter and Dr. Lawrence Aoun. If you so desire, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Transition to Betterness or Hospice of Windsor would be appreciated. Visitation Friday from 3 - 5 & 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at
