Mary Clark Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2024.
September 30, 1945-March 26, 2024

Mary Lois Clark, a devoted servant of God entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2024, at the age of 78 in her Inman, SC home. Born on September 30, 1945, in Beckley, WV, she was a cherished daughter to Eugene Clark and Annell Smith.

Mary's life was a testament to the virtues of love, humility, and compassion. Her unwavering faith was evident in her lifelong commitment to Ridgeville Baptist Church, where she found solace and strength in the fellowship of her congregation. Mary's dedication to her community was exemplified through 24 years of public service at the Washington DC Department of Public Works. Upon retirement, she returned to her roots in Inman, enriching the lives of those around her with her gentle spirit and generous heart. Mary enjoyed spending time serving others through her involvement with Ridgeville's Kitchen Ministry, Lydia Ladies, and Senior Saint Ministry.

A beacon of light to her family, Mary embraced the simple joys of life, finding pleasure in the art of crocheting, the beauty of her garden, the warmth of a home-cooked meal, and the company of loved ones. Her laughter and wise words were a balm to the soul, leaving lasting memories in the hearts of those she touched.

Mary's legacy is carried on through her devoted sons, Darrick Eugene and Daryl Clark Sr., her adoring grandchildren, Daryl Clark Jr., China Clark, Tyler Wortham, and Tarik Clark, and her cherished great-grandson, Denim Clark-Arce. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Janete Smith, Rachel Smith, Brenda Smith-Landrum, brother Keith Wright, aunt Whitney Lyles Wilkins, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends who were blessed to know her.

As we bid farewell to Mary, we are comforted by the knowledge that she is now cradled in the arms of her Creator, reunited with her beloved mother Annell Smith, father Eugene Clark, sisters Carolene Smith and Gertrude Harris Carter, grandmother Lois Lyles, and niece Trista Landrum. We celebrate her life with reverence, knowing that her journey was one of purpose and her impact everlasting.

A celebration of Mary's life and faith will be held at Ridgeville Baptist Church, Inman, SC, Friday, April 5, 2024, at 3:00 PM; with a public viewing at 2:00 PM. Rev. Amos L. Durham will officiate. Cannon and Sons of Landrum, SC, are entrusted with the arrangements. We welcome all whose lives were graced by Mary's presence to join us in honoring a soul of true grace and dignity. The family will be gathered at Mary's home, 19 Pine Street Inman, SC and welcome visitors.

Mary loved flowers. If you wish to honor her life with flowers, the family would be much appreciative.

Mary Lois Clark will be profoundly missed by all those who knew and loved her, yet eternally cherished.

Aunt Mary-

Where to begin. I´m so thankful for all of the words of wisdom, laughs, and moments you created for our family to share. You were the life of any party, one of the best cooks, and the aunt who always greeted us with hugs and kisses. Aunt Mary, life moves way too fast. Seems like yesterday I remember you moving next door with Bullet and learning to enjoy the slower pace of Inman compared to DC. Thank you for all of the love. I´m so sorry I didn´t embrace it more often and bring the kids by to spend time with you. You loved my family and babies so much and I´ll always be appreciative of that. I know so many people will miss your calls. I always chuckled at how you answered the phone, "Ummm..hellloo" I can hear you now clearing your voice getting ready to talk to whoever had a listening ear. Aunt Mary, thank you for always being you. Straight shooter tell it like it is auntie. Our family misses you beyond words. Please continue to watch over us. I know you´re smiling down.

Well Done Aunt Mary. Get your rest.

Love always, Leslie

Grandma, I´m still trying to accept and digest your passing. It doesn´t feel right. I love you so much and always will. You loved me unlike anyone else. You were always someone that I can be transparent and vulnerable with. I´m blessed to have had the time with you that I did. Even more blessed that you were able to see me make it to adulthood and bear a child, Denim =) . I have endless happy memories with you; from the days that I didn´t want you to leave me at elementary school to the most recent 2024 new years celebration. I looked forward to seeing you during Denims spring break, 1 more week left. I don´t understand this but I pray that you are resting peacefully and pain free. I love you, <3
