I'm just learning of Mary Kat's death. She was the reason I joined Zeta at Centenary. And became a dear friend after my brother's death. Great family.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Mary Kat's passing. She was always such a delight, an elegant lady. I have very fond memories of her. Prayers of comfort for all her loved ones.

This beautiful tribute to Mary Kat Loe Clifford is spot on. She was a true original and the world is indeed lacking some luster without her. I first knew her as "Laura's Mom" or "Mrs. Loe," but as she and my mom became close friends and as Laura and I eventually outgrew childhood, she became "Mary Kat" to me, too. She always had a warm hello for me with her brilliant signature smile, even if she was furious with Laura. I always enjoyed conversation with Mary Kat. She was a very engaged listener, and would laugh at my stories as if they were SNL skits. I was forever grateful Mary Kat was a close friend to my mother. They would often have dinner or lunch together and were very strong and supportive of one another. It was quite comforting to have Mary Kat nearby when my mother passed away. She died so suddenly that I had to call Mary Kat at 5 in the morning to ask her if she could remember the name of my mother's physician, so the hospital could release her body to the funeral home. I was so stunned I couldn't even think properly, but Mary Kat came through for me and delivered, as she did many times thereafter. She would always invite my little girls over to swim in the pool at the Unadilla house. I think for the longest time my oldest daughter thought her name was Merry Cat, as she would call her "the Merry Cat." I will miss her terribly as she has been a big part of my life for many years. I will always remember her with a smile.

I am so saddened to read this. Mary Kat was a fun neighbor and friend for many years and her children have grown into amazing adults. I was so happy that she found such happiness with Clifford. I'm so sorry that I won't be able to attend her service but I already have another funeral at 10:30 the same day. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with each of you.
