MARY H. CULBERTSON

Mary H. Culbertson, 86, peacefully passed away on April 26, 2013.

Mary was an extremely devoted, loving wife of 64 years. She is survived by her husband, Toops; dear mother of Steven Morningthunder, John Culbertson, Nancy Culbertson Scott (Marco), Mary Ellen Hitchiner (Doug), Mark Culbertson (Elizabeth); special grandmother of Maggie, Samuel, Sarah, Rebecca, M.E., and Katee. She is also survived by her brother, Mel Harding (Judy), their five children and families.

Mary was born in Reno, Nev., and grew up in Santa Paula, Calif. After marrying, she moved to Continental, Ariz, whereupon she became actively involved in many different community organizations. Her volunteering included: Pueblo Juniors Club, TMC Auxiliary (past-president), and Suburban Southwest Women's Charitable Club. She contributed to many civic organizations such as the Food Bank, Smile Train, as well as other local and national groups.

Due to Toops' employment with FICO, they relocated to Mexico Beach, Fla., where they resided for seven years. While in Florida, they made many life-long friends. Her husband took a different position with FICO, and they returned to Green Valley. Upon their return, she continued to donate to various organizations. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and many friends. She loved to attend sporting events at the University of Arizona with her husband, played poke with her family and occasionally dabbled at the casinos.

Mary was an avid bridge player. Her hobbies included extensive travels with her husband, fun-filled family trips to Hawaii, the Disney Cruise, holiday trip to the Dominican Republic, and Block Island; Toops and Mary also shared many trips with their closest friends. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered for her generous and loving ways to her family and friends. We are all truly grateful for her generosity and superb example of giving.

Please join the family in celebrating her life at the Mountain Oyster Club located at 6400 E. El Dorado Circle. The celebration will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 3-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Southern Arizona Alzheimer's Association at 3003 S.
