Mary DelaRosa Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 10, 2025.
With hearts full of deep love and great sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Mary Teresa Delarosa (nee Quijas) 76 of Redlands, California. She was born on March 20,1949 in Exeter, California. She was the eldest of three children to parents Emilio and Jennie (Sapien) Quijas.

Mary grew up in Farmersville, and San Ysidro, California and graduated from Mar Vista High School, in Chula Vista. Many remembered Mary as a wonderfully sweet and kind person.

Mary dedicated nearly three decades to a career with the County of San Bernardino, Department of Child Support Services, retiring in 2009 as a Supervising Child Support Officer. She was highly regarded for her contributions and left a longstanding positive impact on the department. Those who worked with her can still remember her smile, her warm presence, and her kind-hearted nature.

In 1983, Mary married her loving husband, Randy DelaRosa. They were happily married for forty-two years and raised their three children, Teresa, Robert, and Yvette, in Colton, California. They later moved to Redlands, California, where grandchildren remember going to Nana and Papa's to go swimming.

Mary was a loving mother and dedicated her life to supporting the well-being of her children and grandchildren. She always made sure to attend their school activities, sports events, birthdays, and graduation commencements. She was a wonderful provider, giving love and support to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

There was never a dull moment in Mary's life. Many of her family and friends knew that she made the most of her time with Randy. Always a new adventure to be had, they often went on cruises (Hawaii, Alaska, and Panama) and ventured out into the world, always making sure to bring gifts for their family.

Mary loved going out as she was a social butterfly who enjoyed meeting new people and hearing their stories. Many were attracted to her personable nature, and as a great conversationalist she often found herself getting great deals at any business she went into.

Mary loved to read mystery novels (Agatha Christie), crochet, and watch British television (Miss Marple). She enjoyed online shopping, her favorite websites being Amazon and Temu or "To Me" as she said when receiving her items.

Mary and Randy resided part-time in Tombstone, Arizona, where they enjoyed the slower pace of life and their network of friends. A beloved member of the American Legion, she made many friends in Redlands and Tombstone whom she cherished. Mary's laughter, humor, wisdom, and radiant smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Emilo Quijas and her brother Abel Quijas.

Mary is survived by her husband of 42 years, Randy DelaRosa; her children, Maria Teresa (Daniel) Duron, Robert Cabrera, and Yvette DelaRosa; grandchildren, Cynthia, Alyssa, Robert, Austin, Jessica, Mariena, Michael, JoJo, and Araceli; great-grandchildren, Jaylene, Leilene, Donovan, Nova, and Roman.

She is also survived by her sister Elsa (Alberto) Ulloa of Chula Vista, CA.

Mary would want her family and friends to know that she's very proud of everyone and that she loves them with all her heart.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025, 10:00 am at Montecito Memorial Park at 3520 East Washington Street, Colton, California 92324. A Celebration of Life reception will follow at the American Legion Post 650, 1532 Church St. Redlands, California 92324.

I love and miss her more than words can express. I deeply cherish the beautiful marriage she and Grandpa shared. One of my favorite memories is watching them dance around the house together-it was pure joy. I´m so thankful we had such a close bond and created so many wonderful memories. Every time I called, she always answered, even if it was just to give me guidance or share her thoughts on life. For that, I will forever be grateful.

I feel so lost without her. I´ll miss our mornings in the kitchen, sipping coffee and talking for hours. I can only hope that when I´m a grandmother, I´ll be as loving, wise, and kind as she was. Because of her and Grandpa, I had the best childhood imaginable, and I will carry that love with me always.

I worked with Mary at Child Support Services. She was a great supervisor, kind and caring. She had a great smile. Not long after I started working there, we discovered our husbands worked together at Stater Brothers warehouse. My condolences and prayers to all her family and friends.

Whenever Shirley and I were in the company of Randy John and Mary at family gatherings it was always a pleasure to have a conversation with her. She had a positive outlook on all topics, and had that unique laugh that was real and genuine.
When you would see her and Randy together you didn't have to know them to see that they were definitly meant for each other.
Condolences to all and be assured that she is in our thoughts daily.
