Mary Ellen Gillam

Mary Ellen Gillam, 88, of Kokomo passed away at 5:35 AM Tuesday January 15, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. Born January 7, 1931 in Kokomo, she was the daughter of the late Shady Sullivan Pyke and Lela Pearl (Stillwell) Pyke. She married Ronald H. Coate, and he preceded her in death in 1963. In 1972 she married George W. Gillam, and he preceded her in death in 2008. She was employed at Delco Electronics, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene; also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include one son Sam (Bonnie) Coate of Greentown; three daughters Sally (Randy) McNally of Tucson, AZ, Teresa Ellen (Jerry) Smith of Kokomo, and Deidre Denise Coate and companion Ric Dammier of Noblesville; ten grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one son Shawn Coate, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday January 23, 2019 at Albright Cemetery, Kokomo. Burial will follow. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
