Mrs. Hazel Godwin, 78, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away January 26, 2008 in Pensacola, Florida. She was born June 11, 1929 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to William and Margaret Clark Rowland.
Mrs. Godwin was a lifelong resident of DeFuniak Springs. She was Baptist by faith and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She worked in the lunchroom at the Walton Middle School for 27 years before retiring. She loved taking care of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, spending time with her friends, attending church, and growing flowers.
Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Woodrow W. Godwin.
Mrs. Godwin is survived by her son Billy Joe Godwin Sr. and wife Ellie of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; three daughters Margie Alford and husband Steelia of Darlington, Fla., Katie Barto of DeFuniak Springs, Fla. and Janie Foltmann and husband Ed of Jay, Fla.; two sisters Helen Purvis of White City, Fla. and Alene Gainey of DeFuniak Springs; 12 grandchildren Billy Joe Godwin Jr., Robert Joseph Godwin, Monica Reeves, Kim Quattlebaum, Paul Cotton, Michael Cotton, Randy Barto, Misty Barto, Mary Peters, Waylon Barley, Mariah Barley and Nichlas Foltmann; and eight great-grandchildren Blake, Krystyna, Kevyn, Colby, Travis, Courtney, Brittany and Elijah.
Funeral services were conducted January 29, 2008 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Glen Spence and Owen Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Crowder Chapel Cemetery.
The grandsons served as pallbearers: Billy Joe Godwin Jr., Robert Joseph Godwin, Paul Cotton, Randy Barto, Waylon Barley, Nicholas Foltmann, Michael Cotton and Blake Godwin.
