MARY ALICE GORMAN

Every time I take a short cut in my cooking, I think of how Mary Alice and I never did that when we were young. Meatballs were always made from scratch, not premade from the Giant Eagle or bought fully cooked and frozen from Trader Joe’s. I cherish the good memories we made, my friend. Jane

I was so sad to find out that Mary Alice passed away. I remember the first time I came to Mystery Lovers for the Thursday night book club. The discussion was very short and very uneventful. While I was waiting for my hubby outside, Mary Alice came and sat and talked to me and she encouraged me to return the following month and many years after that. She was an extremely amazing woman who I always enjoyed spending time with and who I admired greatly. Heaven just got another angel. Deepest sympathy to Richard, Aliso and family.

Alison, I know how close your are with your mom and how much it hurts, but she'll be with you forever and always! May you and Richard find peace in the future.

Richard, So sorry to hear of Mary Alice's passing. I loved going to Mystery Lover's Bookshop and was a regular customer. I enjoyed many hours there as I searched for new books and you and Mary Alice always made me feel welcomed and appreciated as a customer. I remember how warm she was....how friendly and welcoming. You both offered suggestions to new authors to try and never led me astray. I loved MLB and the owners so much. I felt so loyal to you both I didn't buy a Kindle until you sold the store. The world is a better place for having 74 years of your amazing wife live in it.....

Mary Alice was incredibly kind to me when I was starting out as a writer. What a lovely and special woman! She will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences, Richard, Alison, and family.

My sincere condolences to Richard and to Mary Alice's family. I have wonderful memories of countless conversations shared. I also have wonderful memories of working at Mystery Lovers' Bookshop in Oakmont, which cemented my love of mysteries.

Oh, Alison, how sad we all are for you.

So sorry to learn of Mary Alice's passing. She was such an important part of the mystery community. Her enthusiasm and energy helped to make the careers of so many writers; she will not be forgotten. And she threw a helluva party. Sincere condolences.

I was proud to call Mary Alice my friend. She had a joyful spirit and a complete commitment to family and work. She will be deeply missed.

She was one of a kind. A warrior against cancer and an advocate for women, the arts, authors, readers and libraries. When I was diagnosed with cancer, she took me out to lunch and gave me the straight up facts so I wasn't blindsided. If not for Mary Alice, I never would have met so many people who are important to me - authors, fellow readers and friends. Prayers for Richard, Alison and her family and friends. This is a mighty loss.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mary Alice's passing. I will miss her lovely and lively posts on Facebook just as I missed seeing her friendly face at the bookshop over the last few years.
