Mary Henley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 22 to Feb. 23, 2023.
Mary Jacqueline Crotts "Jackie" Henley Randleman - Mary Jacqueline (Jackie) Crotts Henley passed away at her home on Monday, February 20, 2023. Jackie was born on November 5, 1930, to Mary and Jack Crotts and was a lifelong resident of Randleman. She was a homemaker and caregiver to family members for most of her life.

Jackie was a humble, hard-working woman who always put others before her own needs or wants. She lovingly cared for both of her husband’s parents, her mother and finally her husband before each of them passed away. She loved cooking and gardening and took so much pleasure in seeing others enjoy a meal she had prepared or sharing the bounty from her garden. While she always seemed to have more to do than time to do it, she never failed to make time for really important things. Whether it was taking a grandson to the branch so he could turn over rocks to see what creature lay beneath it, building a “tent” on the front porch for a camping adventure that she knew would not last beyond sunset, allowing the little ones to “help” cook when it would have been so much easier to do it alone, helping a great grand plant his own garden beside the one she had already planted because he wanted his own, cooking a huge Sunday lunch when she really did not feel like it but knew the family looked forward to it almost every week and so many other things that have become treasured memories for her family. She was loved by so many and became the “adopted” mother and gran for those who didn’t have one or just needed another. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, “Red” Henley and brother Lester Crotts. She is survived by her children, Linda Cranford; Danny (Marie) Henley; Ann Shaw and Scott (Cindy) Henley all of Randleman; grandchildren, Jason (Leslie) Cranford, Emily (Chad) Welch, Matt (Tonya) Henley; great-grandchildren, Brantly Cranford; Jaxon Welch; Easton Henley; and Phoenix Welch, as well as step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, NC 27317. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the Chapel Mausoleum at Randloph Memorial Park, 4538 Hwy 220 Bus. North, Asheboro.

The family would like to thank all who faithfully visited and called. A heartfelt thanks to Cathylee McGee who lovingly helped care for mom in her final months and to the caring staff from Hospice of Randolph County who helped make it possible to keep mom at home where she wanted to be.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, 416 Vision Dr., Asheboro, NC 27203.

I was fortunate enough to be seated at the table during some of those meals! Jackie loved to share the foods from her garden. I particularly loved seeing her find the hottest pepper she could find and give it to Red. His face would turn red and sometimes sweat would show up. He loved them! Jackie was always so mild speaking and kind and loving. She will surely be missed. Ann, special prayers go up for you for losing your mother so soon after losing Dick. May all of the family feel the strength and comfort that God will provide. Love you.
