Mary Johnston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 17, 2024.
Mary Bell Johnston (nee Bowerman) passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, at the age of 88 in Lake Havasu, AZ. She was born on October 24, 1935, in Miller, Missouri, to Mary and Roy Bowerman. Mary will always be remembered and cherished for her loving, intelligent, and giving heart. Her strength, determination, and stubbornness carried her until the very end.

Mary was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jack Johnston. Together, they shared a lifetime of memories and built a strong foundation of love and support. Mary was a loving mother to her daughters, LuAn Garcia (Steve) and Kelly Snider (Mike). She adored her grandchildren, Amber, Stephanie, April, Theresa, Jessica, and Lucas, and took great joy in being a great-grandmother to Adam, Isaiah, Joey, Logan, Seth, Shane, and Clayton. Mary also had a close bond with her brother, Roy.

Mary dedicated 38 years of her life to General Telephone before retiring. She was known for her hard work, dedication, and commitment to her career. In her free time, Mary enjoyed walking, reading, and volunteering. She was also an active member of the ladies bowling league, where she formed lasting friendships and created cherished memories.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date to honor Mary's life and celebrate the impact she had on those around her. Mary will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Mary's memory to a charity of your choice.

My love and condolences to Jack and all the family.
So many great memories with Aunt Mary over the years. Yearly visits during the holidays to their house in La Habra. Trips to Oklahoma for family reunions and working on Grandma's house. The countless help and support they provided me when I moved back to Southern California for college. Many weekend visits to their house in Havasu.
A long life well lived. She will be missed.
