Mary K. Fanelli Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 27, 2024.
Mary K. Fanelli, age 63, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Erie, Pennsylvania, after a long illness. She faced several strokes in recent years and endured ongoing cardio-pulmonary complications with resilience.

Born in New Rochelle, New York, Mary K. was the daughter of Thomas Sr. and Sally Fanelli. In 2003, she married Anthony "Tony" Mennillo, who preceded her in death in 2011. Mary K. worked as a title examiner in Westchester County, New York, and also spent time as a waitress in both Westchester and Erie Counties.

Mary K. cherished her visits to Union City, Pennsylvania, where she stayed with her beloved sister Jeanne Vallimont and Jeanne's first and second husbands, Jim McGuinness and Patrick Vallimont. Known for her warmth and charm, Mary K. often became the social heart of gatherings with her infectious smile.

She is survived by her siblings: Tom Fanelli Jr., Jude Lemke (Fred), Sara Fanelli, Bill Fanelli (Anne), Steve Fanelli, and Keith Fanelli (Patty). In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her sister Jeanne Vallimont; brother George Fanelli; brothers-in-law Patrick Vallimont, Jim McGuinness, and Terry Haterius; her stepsons Christopher, Glenn, and Gregory; and Hank, her beloved basset hound.

Mary K.'s ashes were interred on December 27 alongside those of her husband Tony Mennillo in Union City, Pennsylvania. They rest near her sister Jeanne.

A private memorial will be held in January 2025 in Westchester County, New York, where Mary K. spent much of her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in MaryK.'s memory to a favorite charity supporting individuals with drug or alcohol addiction or mental health challenges.

What a beautiful obituary Jude !
My first real recollection of Mary K was in mid June of 1963.She was a toddler and I was her VERY pregnant older cousin. We were all sitting outside at your house and she walked right up to me and bam - punched me in the stomach. She wanted to see if the baby would pop out!!!!
My other big recollection is how very happy she was with Tony. They would come over to Moms to visit when I was there from Boston. They both seemed to totally adore each other. She was so devastated when he passed. She had a hard life but always seemed to have that Mary K smile. May she finally be at peace and reunited with those she loved and loved her

Rest in peace, my sweet young cousin. You were always one of my mom's favorites, and I find comfort imaging you and she sharing a few hearty laughs together. Hugs to the family who helped her through difficult times.

One of the first times that I connected with Mary K was on FB where she would post about music that she loved or that suited her mood at the time.
Two things I remember being important to Mary K were her memories of visiting NYC on 12/8 with her parents & her siblings and her great love for her husband, Tony! I never met him but I always felt he was inspired when he got Hank for Mary K. After Tony was gone Hank helped Mary K keep going.
