KARL - Mary E., 88, formerly of Bethpage, NY passed away August 12, 2014 in Fredericksburg, VA. Mary is predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, William H. Karl; her parents, Peter and Mary McGuire; her sisters Kathleen, Anne, and Genevieve; and her grandson John. She is survived by two daughters, Eileen (Vaughn) Leonard of Jupiter, FL, and Genevieve (Steven) Cunningham of Fredericksburg, VA; by three sons, William J. Karl and wife Gwen of Farmington Hills, MI, Peter M. Karl and wife Donna of Manorville, NY, and John C. Karl and wife Catherine of Manorville, NY; by seven grandchildren, Richard, Michael, Laura, Steven, Katie, Sean and Will; and by three great-grandchildren, Robbie, Danielle, and Julia. Mary was born in Bronx, NY on September 30, 1925. She graduated from St. Simon Stock High School in 1942. She worked for NY Life as a medical typist during WW2, and as a receptionist for Plainview Community Health Care in the 1980's. She was also an active member of the Rosary Altar Society at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Hicksville, NY for many years. Mary enjoyed movies, reading, spending time with her family and never once failed to finish a dish of vanilla ice cream. Visitation: Sinnickson's Moriches Funeral Home, Center Moriches, NY on Sunday, August 17, 2014, 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral mass: St. John's RC Church, Center Moriches on Monday, August 18, 2014, 9:30am. Cemetery: Calverton National, Calverton, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to cure pancreatic cancer through The Lustgarten Foundation, 1111 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage, NY 11714.
