Mary L. Kirby, 75, of rural Davenport, died Friday, May 16, 2003, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus. Celebration of Life Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 19, at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Summit Cemetery, Davenport. Memorial gifts are welcome to the family.
Mary was born March 23, 1928, in Springfield, Ill., to Noah and Helen (Krutsinger) Perry. She married Malvern E. Kirby on April 1, 1950, in Summit Church in rural Davenport.
She was a homemaker; a devoted and selfless wife, mother; and friend. Mary worshipped the Lord Jesus Christ above all else and exemplified His faithfulness and love to her beloved family, and to all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband, Malvern; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Pastor James M. Olsen, Davenport, and Marleen Olsen, rural Davenport; and son and daughter-in-law, Dennis P. and Shelie (Saladino) Kirby, rural Davenport. Her wealth of grandchildren includes Erin and Andy Meschke, Loveland, Colo., Kara Olsen, Houston, Texas, Camye, St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Raub T. Olsen, Davenport, Jamie Olsen, Davenport, Randal R. Olsen, St Ambrose University, Jordan Olsen, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Eden and Faith Olsen, rural Davenport, Molly Kirby, St Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pa., Lisa Kirby, Central College, Pella, Iowa, and Dana and Kyle P. Kirby, rural Davenport; great-granddaughter, Kirby Meschke, Loveland, Colo.; sister, Hazel Dawn Zillmer, Webb City, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Randal H., in 1973; a sister, Joetta Ellsworth, in 1983; and a son-in-law, D. Robert Olsen, in 1988.
Mary bestowed endless physical, emotional and spiritual blessings upon her family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be exceedingly missed.
