Mary Kmetty Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 12, 2025.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Elizabeth Kmetty Allen, of McLean, Illinois, on August 6, 2025 at the young age of 66. Mary had recently retired in January and enjoyed every day she spent with her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her husband, Mike Allen, her step children, Caitlyn (Jordan) and Michael (Samantha) and adoring grandchildren - Brayden, Kaydence, Amya, Kobie, Logan and Lucas. Mary was a nurturing Nana, who always made time to play with, cheer on and talk to her grandchildren. Mary will now become the guardian angel of her new grandson, Christopher, to be born this August, watching over him every day.

Mary was born on October 3, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Mary Elizabeth Masterson Kmetty and George Kmetty Sr. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother George Kmetty Jr, sister Karen Kmetty Pierce and brother in law Ted Pierce. Mary is survived by her siblings James, Gary (Tee), Cheryl (Gary), Richard (Cindy), sister in law Shirley, and 16 loving nieces and nephews, as well as many great nieces and nephews and great, great little nieces and nephews. Mary was the youngest of her seven siblings. Family was everything to Mary - her life's biggest blessing, her foundation of happiness, and her source of strength.

A private Memorial Mass and Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 to honor Mary's life. Please keep Mary and her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to contribute to the fight against cancer and help save lives.

I will always remember all the good times our group had and Mary was a big part of that! We spent our teen and young adult years growing up together and I am forever grateful for all of it! Rest well Mary, I hope to see you on the other side!

Mary was so much a part of our small group´s life as anyone else. She was fun and a very beautiful person. As life gradually distanced our group Ted was the farthest out but then Mary. I certainly missed seeing Mary the most. I wish we could have spent a little time together catching up and sharing what we´ve learned through life. It´s sad that people you care about can be gone so quickly and that catching up opportunity is lost.

I will always love and miss you my baby sister. It lightens my heart to know you are with our Lord and Mom has her baby girl back in her loving arms again.

Until we meet again.... Richard
