Mary Lievense Obituary
She was born on June 29, 1948 in St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend, Indiana to John and Elizabeth (Bondurant) Whitinger. In exchange for the hospital bill, her father painted hospital rooms. Phred graduated from South Bend Central High School.
On April 15, 1978, she married Larry Kent Lievense in South Bend and he survives.
Mary worked as a clerk for several mortgage companies. After retirement, she worked for the St. Joseph County Public Library as a circulation clerk.
She was a member of the Indiana Public Employees Association. Phred enjoyed flower gardening, reading, and photography.
Surviving are her husband, Larry Lievense of Lafayette, IN; her son, Nick (Amanda) Lievense of Lafayette, IN; and her siblings, Nancy Crawford of South Bend, IN, Connie Baird of Niles, MI, and Thad Whitinger of Muncie, IN. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Sydney "Sweet Pea" and Natalie "Little Lamb" Lievense.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Jeanne, Betty, and John; her dogs, Chip, Abby, Lucy, and Clark; and her cat, Earl.
