Mary LIU

LIU, Mary Born in Calcutta, India, passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on October 1st, 2011 at the age of 75. Mary will be remembered with love by her spouse of 51 years, Harold Liu, daughter, Julia Garner and son-in law Kevan Garner, sons Desmond, Albert and Richard, daughter-in-law Noreen, grandchildren, Chantel Mah, Elise Garner and Melissa Liu. Her daughter Doreen passed away in 2004 from colon cancer. Mary arrived in Canada in 1965 with her husband and 3 children in tow, as refugees protected under the British Commonwealth when India had a border war with China. She decided to become a hairdresser and loved working with the public. In 1974, she purchased her own hairdressing business ""Mary's Coiffures."" Her customers were her friends and she was still working until January of this year. Our mother, Mary, was definitely a ""SuperMom"" - a successful businesswoman; a fabulous cook; a loyal, loving wife and mother devoted to her family. She had an extremely strong work ethic. She would work 6 days a week and still manage to come home and cook fabulous dinners for her family. She loved ballroom dancing with her husband and they went on many cruises around the world together. Mary will always be cherished and missed by her family and friends. Funeral Service: Thursday, October 6th, 12 - 1pm at First Memorial, 602 Kingsway with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue. Reception: Dai tung, 1022 Kingsway at 3 pm.
