MARY MACLAREN Obituary
Of Ottawa, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2015 in her 84th year. Born in Springville, Nova Scotia in 1932, Mary was the daughter of the late Dr. Hugh Dan and Adeline (Himmelman) Chisholm and sister of the late Margaret Spindler of Dartmouth. Mary is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years A. Kenneth Maclaren. She will be dearly missed by her children Gordon of Kyoto Japan, Janet and her husband Steve Dent of Toronto, Wendy and Alec of Ottawa and grandchildren James, Andrew, Alexandra and Margot Dent.
A country girl at heart, Mary was a lifelong lover of the outdoors enjoying farm chores, gardening at home and at her cottage on Grand Lake, cross country skiing in the Gatineau Hills and adventures with Ken and friends on the South Shore of Nova Scotia.
Mary enjoyed a long career and commitment to service as a doctor in Ottawa at the Civic Hospital and in private practice. She graduated from Dalhousie Medical School in 1958.
Mary's family would like to express our gratitude to her many caregivers for their wonderful support and care over many years.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod St.(at O'Connor) Ottawa. Donations in Mary's memory may be made to the Parkinson Society Canada or a charity of your choice.

Dr. Maclaren was my physician over 30 years ago and she was awesome. She was also the Doctor for my Mom for many years and I know she made a big difference for her and her life forward. She was truly gifted in her work. Condolences to the family.

Mary was our family doctor until she retired. A very compassionate and caring lady who gave so much to those around her. My sincere condolences to her loved ones and friends.
