Mary Margaret (Marge) Madden, 94, passed away on July 24, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri. In accordance with Marge’s wishes a private memorial Mass and interment will be held for family members at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to KC Hospice & Palliative Care, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, #200, KCMO 64114, or St. Peter’s Parish, 815 E. Meyer Blvd, KCMO 64131, where she was a member for many years.

Marge was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 20, 1921. She attended St. James Catholic Grade School and Redemptorist High School. During World War II, she worked for the Vendo Company. In 1945 she married Stan Madden on his return from service in the South Pacific in a ceremony and Mass at St. James celebrated by Monsignors John Keyes and Vincent Kearney. Marge and Stan were married for 63 wonderful years until Stan’s passing in 2009. They had six children, one of whom died in infancy. Marge was a homemaker, room mother, den mother, cheerleader sponsor and served as the neighborhood chauffer for many of the children’s events. She particularly enjoyed making frequent trips to the library to pick up reading material for the grade school children. She was a member of the Ladies of Charity for many years. She had an appreciation for art and was a frequent visitor to the Nelson-Atkins Museum locally and museums throughout the United States and Europe. Stan and Marge travelled to Europe several times with the most memorable of those trips to Oxford to study the British Political and Legal System sponsored by the UMKC Law School. Marge managed Stan’s Law Office in Brookside for thirty years serving as the receptionist, secretary, accountant, Stan’s daily lunch companion and the host to many of the other building tenants who would come by the office for a cup of coffee and pre-lunch visits.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Margaret Elizabeth (Ruby) Brock, and her infant daughter, Mary. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Stapleton of Danville, California, Stanford D. Madden and Megin Poindexter of Kansas City, Missouri, Christopher Madden of Prairie Village, Kansas, Martha Madden and her husband, Bob Numrich, of Prairie Village, Kansas, ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, her brother, Daniel Brock of Leawood, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

Marge and family are forever grateful to the wonderful employees at Brookdale-Grand Court at 501 W. 107th Street, Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City Hospice for the care and treatment she received during her years as a resident of the facility and during her last weeks.

Marge always left the office door open, and had a smile when I would drop in for coffee, or just to say hello.

To Marge Madden's family.
Kathy and I work together at AT&T in California. She and I have grown close over the years and although I have never met Marge or the rest of the family, I feel very close to you all. Kathy and I share family stories and it is equally delightful to realize that we share same set of values, art and music most probably because we are close in age.
What I know of Ms. Marge is that she had a strong-willed but impressive personality, loved life and family, but first and foremost a KC Royal fan! I think that it was a precious gift to her when the Royals won the championship in 2015!
I believe that Marge reached her golden years with these special attributes and I'm sure that you all have lasting memories of her which you can share with the young ones of the family.
I pray that she finally rests in peace along with her beloved. Take care.

Dear Family,
I know I do not need to tell you how much she meant to me.. Seeing George and Gracie and your family was always the highlight of a KC visit. There is probably a lot of joyful reunion going on in high places even now. I will try to fill the hole in my heart her temporal leaving has left. I love each and every one of you very much. Judy
