Mary Jane Mahon, age 86, beloved by all who knew her, died peacefully at her Beachwood home on June 6th. Born Mary Jane Cowell to Anna and John Cowell, in Newark, New Jersey. Married to her loving husband Edward Michael Mahon, on June 19, 1948. Predeceased by her parents Anna and John, her husband of 49 years Edward M. Mahon, her sister Cornealia Savage, and her brother Owen Cowell. Mary Jane was a communicant of St. Cecelia's RC Church, Iselin, prior to her relocation in 2007. Active in the Altar Rosary Society, an Ecumenical Minister, and an ever active volunteer for many of the parish functions throughout her 54 years of worship and service to the church and her community, and valued volunteer for the blood drive efforts of the Telephone Pioneers for many years. She continued her adult education and honed her professional skills as an executive secretary. Her extended family, and the many friends she enjoyed will most certainly miss her dearly, and remember her fondly as a loving, caring and generous woman born into a world forever touched by her sweet naivete and steadfast hold on the simple values by which she led her life.

She is survived by her eight children, fifteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; son Edward and B. Carr-Mahon of Rumson, NJ and their children, Blake and Elizabeth; daughter Margaret Jones, Hayes, VA and her children Jennifer Jones and her fiance Brett Cahoon, Edward and his fiancee Jaime McCusker, Colleen Jones and Lauren and Tim Renwick; son John Mahon, San Diego, CA, and his daughter Carly Mahon; daughter Nancy Rossetti, Beachwood, NJ and her children Alicia and Josh Stewart, Alexander and Jane Rossetti, and Jacqueline and Jamie Distasio; daughter Mary Smith, Forked River, NJ and her children, Betsy Noon and Raymond L Smith III; daughter Ann and Mark Flanzbaum, New Port Richey, FL and their children, Daniel and Carol Flanzbaum, Brian and his fiancee Christina Mouzakis, and Timothy and Maria Flanzbaum; son Patrick and Judy Mahon, Koloa, HI; and son Matthew Mahon, Boulder, CO.

Her wishes for a memorial service to be held near the anniversary of her beloved husband Edward's death in October will be honored by her children and announced at a later date. Those wishing to donate in lieu of flowers may do so to St. Cecelia's Social Concern, Iselin or St. John Church, 22 Mulberry St., Newark NJ.
