Mary M. Mangan

Mrs. Mary M. Mangan, 86, DeWitt, Iowa, died peacefully, Monday morning, April 7, 2008, in her home.
Mrs. Mangan was born Mary Margaret Trimble, July 19, 1921, at home in rural DeWitt. She was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Isabella (McDonnell) Trimble. Mary was united in marriage to Thomas G. Mangan, November 15, 1944, at St. Patrick's Church, Villa Nova, Iowa. The couple farmed at rural DeWitt, all of their married life. Mary also taught for several years in rural schools in Clinton County. Her husband Thomas preceded her in death, May 3, 1991.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt, and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. She loved family get-to-gethers and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Surviving are her children, Tom, Kenyon, Minnesota, Mary (Terry) Wylie, Princeton, Iowa, Steve (Mary), DeWitt, Kathleen (Reed) McCulloh, North Liberty, Iowa, Bernadette Hudson, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, David (Kathy), DeWitt, and Teresa (Kevin) Glesener, Knoxville, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Teresa Trimble, Charlotte, Iowa; brothers, Leo, DeWitt, John, Tucson, Arizona, and R. Michael "Mick," Denver, Colorado; and special family friends, Jan Mangan, Larry Smith and Linda Carlton.
Preceding Mary in death in addition to her husband were her parents, a son-in-law, Randy Hudson, and brothers, Joseph, Robert, Gerald, Charles, Ambrose, Paul and Tom.
Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 until 7 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, DeWitt. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness will preside. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials to St. Joseph's School.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Mangan, Mitchell Wylie, Nicholas Mangan, Thomas McCulloh, Drew Hudson, Brian Mangan and Michael Glesener. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Mangan, Korene Lanxon, Anne Wylie, Christina Stokman, Irene Mangan, Curtis Mangan, John Mangan, Maria Mangan, Anna Mangan, Lisa Lawton, Angela Brown, Maggie Simons, Dave Mangan, Laura Mangan, Daniel Mangan, Ryan Glesener and Rebecca Glesener.
