Mary Maples Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 11, 2023.
Mary Jane "Bunny" Maples, age 75, of Aledo, Texas, passed away on October 4, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1948, in Boise, Idaho, to the late Steve and Hazel Sayko. Bunny was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

As a child growing up with her two older sisters in Boise, Idaho, Mary earned the nickname of Bunny from her parents. Bunny met her soulmate, Bob, at the age of 19 in Idaho and they were married at 20. Together they raised a family of three and eventually moved to Sacramento, California to be closer to Bunny's sister, Jerrie, and raise their children and would eventually retire. Bunny and Bob transitioned into one of the best times of their lives and sold their house, bought an RV and spent the next 10 years traveling the U.S, enjoying nature and meeting new people. Bunny lost her soulmate, Bob in 2010 and decided to settle in Aledo, Texas with her daughter and her husband.

Bunny had a love of birds, animals and her cat Miggy Sue. Bunny's pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Bunny always had a great sense of humor and quick wit which always caught people off guard and made them smile. She was very talented and artistic, although she would deny how good she was. Bunny constantly insisted we will not be sad at her funeral, to know she is dancing, fishing, gardening and holding her husband again. Bunny will be truly missed but her life will be celebrated, and her spirit will continue to live on through her family.

Bunny is survived by her sister and spouse, Jerrie & Patrick McVey; daughter and spouse, Gina & Franz Koenig; sons and their spouses, Chris & Mary Maples and Steve & Heidi Maples; stepdaughters and their spouses, Leslie & Mike Shuter and Lorinda & Troy Hawker; grandchildren, Cody & Alexis Maples, Matthew & Ryan Palefski, Josh, Chloe & Cooper Maples, and Kortney & Frankie Koenig. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and soulmate, Robert Maples, and her sister, Judy Sayko.

A celebration of Bunny's life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:00 am at Trinity Bible Church, located at 4936 E Interstate 20 Service Road South, Willow Park, TX 76087.

In honor and memory of Bunny, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Humane Society or St. Jude's in lieu of flowers. Bunny was an long-time donor to these charities. Contributions can be sent to https://www.stjude.org/donate or
https://www.humanesociety.org
If you wish to send flowers, please send to the church at the address above to be delivered that morning and the services will be around the back of the church in the youth worship center.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Bunny's family and friends during this difficult time. May her memory be a source of comfort and strength to all who knew her.

After meeting while staying in TX .about 2020 ,Tony and I spent many days with Bob and Bunny over several years while full timing in our RV. We would travel where they were and they would travel to visit us. At times we would travel together .Bunny was a wonderful host ,always cooking and serving with style and charm . Bob,Bunny ,and Tony all loved their wine and Bunny ,who was usually soft spoken, would loosen up a little after a few glasses , but always remained a lady .They were fun and easy to be with and their love for each other made them a very special couple. I´m sure there will be many people so sorry to hear of her passing .
