Mary Margaret is my first cousin and we had many laughs throughout the years .
She came to Ireland when I was a kid and I vividly remember her as she was stunning , as we say here you would stand in the snow to look at her , She could have been a top Model with her beautiful flawless bone structure and she had the personality to complement it. My father Tommy Martin , Mary Margaret's Uncle brother to her Mother Mary Joyce nee Martin always carried in his wallet a photograph on Mary Margaret his niece. He would pull the photograph from his wallet and show it to us and we would look in amazement at this beautiful girl whom we had never met at that stage of our young life. Thankfully I did meet Mary Margaret first when she arrived in Ireland with her family and best friend Fran Mann nee Cloonan many years ago but we were kids , I then headed to Lynn in 1984 with my sister Catherine and that is when we both got to know our first cousin Mary Margaret . She loved the good life , she was generous , kind , beautiful and a lady . She took us all over Lynn and the surrounding area. She took us to this party in Bass Point . I will never forget it as the Ocean was lapping the door step it was so close , but did we party until the early hours of the morning and we left and she drove back to Walden Street with the two of us in the front seat with her when the sun was just rising and it was the most beautiful sight and we laughed all the way to her home in Walden Street. It was magic for us two young Irish girls with out gorgeous stunning looking cousin Mary Margaret.
I then went to Lynn in 1989 on a Donnelly Visa and worked there for three to four months when again I met up with my cousin Mary Margaret. She took me all around to exiting venues . I remember on Christmas Day early in the morning we headed off to Marblehead for coffee and of course time did not matter to my dear cousin Mary Margaret and we got back to Lynn late for our date for Christmas dinner ,Needless to say her sister Kathy was not at all happy. We both had many late nights at 295 Lynnshore Drive eating Monty's Pizza and of course a nice glass of red wine.
When I got sick in 2004 and had to undergo Chemo Mary Margaret came over to Ireland and accompanied me to the Clinic for my Chemo and everybody loved her and she loved the restaurant in the Clinic where she could have her coffee. She was a very caring person and I recall her taking her meal out from a restaurant to a homeless person . That was my cousin Mary Margaret . We will miss her dearly . She made us laugh , she shocked us and she cared for all of us . She loved life and she enjoyed it. Until we meet again may God Hold you in the Palm of his Hand . Dearly and sadly missed by your Irish cousin Brid Martin Galway Ireland .
