Mary Alice Speicher Martin

MARTIN Mary Alice Speicher Martin, age 78, of Dublin, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Dublin Methodist Hospital. Mary was born on March 11, 1932 in Ashland, Wisconsin; she was the daughter of the late Dr. Earl E. and Mary Alice Speicher. Mary is also preceded in death by her brother who passed away during his childhood. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard W. Martin; devoted children, Diana R. Martin and Steven C. Martin; and sisters, Vivian J. McQuoid and Elaine S. Straw. Mary's father was very active in the United Church of Christ (formerly Congregational Church). He was a professor of religion at Northland College in Ashland, WI, where Mary received her B.A. in Languages. She went on to receive her M.A. in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin. While Mary's children were growing up she was actively involved in their school activities. She was also very involved in the girl scouts and boy scouts. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling and hiking. She will be remembered for her devotion to learning and her love for her family. Family will be having private services at a later date.
