My deepest sympathy to Tom and the rest of the Mason family. I was so sorry to learn of Mary Ellen's
passing. I met Mary Ellen McGrath in 1965 at John Hancock in Boston where she & I worked in the
Actuarial Department. When Mary Ellen and her roommate needed a 3rd for their big, wonderful
apartment in the Coolidge Corner area of Brookline, I was happy to be asked to move in. During that time I also
met and became friendly with her family who lived in Amherst MA where her Dad, Bill, owned the drug
store right in the center of town. We were roommates for three years and become such good friends that
I asked her to be Maid-of-Honor at my wedding. I moved out to western MA, but stayed in touch with
her over the years, but hadn't seen her since 2004 when she stopped by for lunch after visiting her
mother in a local nursing home. She had a sweet disposition and was a lot of fun, but most of all she
was a good person who cared so much for those around her. Goodbye and God Bless, Mary Ellen.
