Mary McHale was a woman as unique as her wonderful Irish accent. She became my mother's dearest friend when they were young immigrants from Ireland. As Irish girls they had lots to chat about in person or on the phone. Mary's smile and sense of fun was infectious.
Her skills as a seamstress were phenomenal. Over the years all three of us ( my mother Mary, my daughter Meghan and myself) wore many beautiful and one-of-a-kind garments thanks to her skill and creativity. Meghan's Irish dance dress is still so unique many years after the dancing shoes were hung up. Her last sewing task for us was to make Meghan's wedding veil and we have precious pictures of that special day when she and Linny helped us celebrate.
When I was very ill several years ago, Linda showed up at Mercy on my first night out of ICU. She brought Mary and it was as if she brought my own mother to comfort me at my lowest point. Her loving compassion will remain with me forever.
Go with God Mary . Time to have another chat with your friend again.
