McQUITTY, Mary Margaret
Mary Margaret McQuitty, a woman beloved by her daughter Jane and many friends, passed away after a short illness on Sunday, December 25, 2016. Mary was born in Mount Irwin, Gurteen, Co. Sligo, Ireland to James and Julia Benson. Mary trained as an RN in London and later a radiotherapist in Birmingham, England. She married George David Holt McQuitty in 1957 and they emigrated to Canada in 1965. In her 98 years, she touched many with her warmth, optimism, and intelligence. Her brother, Paddy and sister Evelyn Cunningham; as well as her sisters-in-law Kathleen of Copt Horne, England, Nora of Mount Irwin and Alice of Dublin, Ireland survive Mary, as do many adored nieces and nephews. Her husband George predeceased Mary in 1979. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at a visitation held at FOSTER'S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Parish, 10 River Heights Drive, Cochrane, Alberta on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Andrew's Cemetery, 128 - 1 Street East, Cochrane, Alberta.
