Mary Marie Jennings Murray

Graveside service for Mary Marie (Jennings) Murray will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Carlton Stokes officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Musgrove-Merriott-Smith Funeral Service and Crematory. Mary died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, at the age of 74. The daughter of Ivan Joseph and Fern Marie (Sams) Jennings was born Oct. 12, 1935, in Claremore. In 1941, the family moved to Fellows, CA, and then Cabazon, Calif They moved back to Claremore in 1951. In 1953, Mary graduated from Claremore High School; and on Aug. 2, she married Charles Grant Murray at the First Baptist Church. They were married for 57 years. They lived in Tulsa from 1953 to 1957. They moved back home to Claremore and built their own home on Murray Road moving in on July 4, 1957. Mary was an accomplished seamstress and tailor. She had worked at Bryant Infant Wear, Coast to Coast Hardware, A1-Cleaners, and Ye Ol Tailor Shop. She also did custom sewing at home. Mary enjoyed traveling, playing bingo, and spending lots of time with her family. Her smile and laughter will be missed but her journey has been long and her reward has been received. Mary is survived by her husband, Charles (Jack) of the home; son, Ronald Murray and wife, Jeannie of Claremore; daughter, Tammy Polson and husband, David of Claremore; grandchildren: Robert Murray and Hailey Polson both of Claremore; sister, Margaret Payton and husband, Ray of Buna, Texas; and brother, Chester Jennings of Broken Arrow. She is preceded in death by her parents.
