Mary Perry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 22, 2012.
Mary Jane Perry, 76, of 33 Hodges Street, Attleboro, passed on Sunday April 22, 2012 from heart complications at Boston Medical Center. Born in Inverin, County Galway, Ireland, she was the first child of Mathew and Mary (McDonough) Connolly. She was educated in Ireland where she enjoyed Irish Step Dancing. In 1958 she came to the United States where she had many uncles and aunts in Portland, Maine. In 1963 she married David Perry at St. Dominick's Church in Portland. After they married, they settled in David's home town of Attleboro where they raised their only child Sean. She worked at Knobby Crafters, The Hayward Company, and Technical Plastics Inc. before retiring in 1998. She was a faithful communicant of St John the Evangelist Church where she belonged to the St John's Ladies Guild/Woman of Spirit. She enjoyed attending meetings and volunteering at their annual Holiday Bazaar. She also enjoyed dining out frequently with her fellow Red Hat Society members and made many new friends at the Norton Senior Center where she also volunteered at bake sales and fund raisers. Her family always came first in her life; the greatest pleasure for her was attending family cookouts and holiday gatherings at her son's house. She was also very proud of her granddaughter who is working on her degree to become a Pharmacist. Another passion was following the New England Patriots and the entire NFL. She would attend a Patriots game each year and also enjoyed picking NFL games against the local newspaper, winning more times than not. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Mary is survived by her husband of 48 years, David W. Perry of Attleboro; a son Sean Perry and his wife Lynne Perry of Attleboro, a granddaughter; Kayla Perry; a brother; Padraig Connolly and his wife Bridie and their children Anne and Kieran, of Galway Ireland, a brother in-law; Joseph Moran, a niece; Shannon Moran and a nephew; Matthew Moran. She was the sister of the late Jane Moran. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 27th at 11 AM in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, celebrated by Rev. Richard Roy, Pastor. A reception will immediately follow in the St. John's Parish Center. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, and for those wishing to remember Mary in a special way, contributions in her memory may be made to: American Diabetes Association, P.O.
