We have fond memories visiting Jane at Kingston Residence of Sylvania with our therapy dogs - Tobee, Kaycee, Neddick, Precious & Berwick. She always looked forward to seeing our Goldens but Precious was her favorite. "Precious my Precious" was always her greeting to us when she saw her. Thank you Jane for your smile and kind words. We will miss you.
Our condolences to her family.

I have fond memories of Jane as a volunteer with me at the UM Matthaei Botanical Gardens. She was always so soft spoken and kind. The only thing she didn't like to do was grooming the streptocarpus plants. I have a picture of Jane in the Gift Shop's Plant Propagation Group taken in 1992. If you'd like me to send you a photo copy I can?
I also met both of her last 2 dogs but remember Dessie most. I couldn't believe the hill Jane lived on at Navarre Circle. My condolences to her family.

Thank you, Miss Jane, you were a wonderful person in my young life. I was, "the boy in the striped shirt with the large muscle movements" in the U-M films. I am 52 years old now, and the kids in my class at UES that you taught, well, you would be proud of us.

My husband and I met Jane on the bluffs of Northport in '98. We bought an old log cabin near her and she was a good neighbor and friend. Dessie quickly learned how to help herself to our dog's food. So we had to be on guard when Jane walked her down the lane. We later learned that Jane and my mother in law, Liz Lutton knew each other at First Pres.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working for Mrs. Schwertfeger during her later years at Navarre Circle. I found her to be very pleasant. We had several conversations about education. I was her painter. My condolences to all she was close to. Ron Klumpp, Dexter MI.

Miss Jane taught at the University Elementary School and my youngest son, now 52 was her student in Junior Kindergarten. We all loved Miss Jane. Later, Jane was a volunteer at the Kempf House Museum and a loyal colleague. Miss Jane was a great influence on my youngest son. Thank you, Jane.
