Mary C. Sedler

Mary C. Sedler, 89, of Girard, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at St. Vincent Medical Center.

She was born on March 16, 1925 in North Girard (now Lake City), a daughter of the late Roy W. and Henrietta H. Hess Bax.

Mary graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1943, and later married Roy Wilbur Sedler on October 22, 1944, in Lake City. She had worked at several places locally, including Erie County Home (now Pleasant Ridge Manor) and the Girard Model Works.

She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Lake City, where she was a Lay Reader and Altar Guild Society member. Mary attended Art School in Yuma, Ariz., and became an accomplished oil painting artist, with her work being shown in many art shows in the area.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death, in 1997, by her husband Roy Wilber Sedler; sisters Betty Dudley and Lucille "Diz" Bax; and brothers Paul and Alvin Bax.

She is survived by her three sons, Dana M. Sedler and his wife Linda of Poquoson, Va., Todd L. Sedler and his wife Ines of Newport News, Va., and Roger W. Sedler and his wife Debra of Clarksburg W. Va.; sister Pauline Young and her husband Darrell of Lake City; grandchildren Jennifer, Amanda and Courtney Sedler; step-grandson Gary Golmer, and four great-grandchildren Tristen, Jayden ,Tyler and Savannah; and also many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church, 10121 Hall Ave., Lake City, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service there at 2 p.m. Rev. Robert Burke will officiate.

Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery.
