Mary Shorey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 15, 2023.
"An Angel was summoned to heaven as her time on earth was finished..." Mary Elizabeth Shorey (Breuer) passed away suddenly after a brief illness on December 13, 2022. She was born to Christian John (Jack) and Frances Elizabeth (Slaybaugh) Breuer. She was the oldest of 9 children. Mary met Merle Francis Shorey on a night out -cruising -Fremont street. The couple married on January 19,1963. They would have celebrated their 60th Anniversary this past January. They had four children; Edward Joseph, Sheri Ann, Robert Michael and Teresa (Traci) Gail. Mary went to work full time when her youngest started kindergarten. She worked at First National Bank as a teller. Through her strong will and perseverance, she worked, went to school at night and raised her family. Along with name changes, First Interstate Bank and then, Wells Fargo Bank, she climbed the corporate ladder and became the Branch Manager of numerous locations. After about 30 years, she left the financial career behind and worked as a PBX operator for both The Castaways and Sam's Town Hotels until she retired. Mary adored her grandchildren. You could always see with her expressions how much she was elated to visit with the little ones. Mary is survived by her husband, her four children and their spouses, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We are so sad to hear of Mary's passing. We always looked forward to talking with her at Breuer reunions. And also visiting while in Vegas for various reasons (weddings, etc). She will be missed.
